Worth a visit, but its only part of the local Roman remains

The museum makes for an interesting visit; it's small and in many ways a typical small town museum. But what makes it really special is that it's sited among an array of Roman ruins - some literally in its back-garden, and others just a few minutes walk away. So allow time to wander around Ribchester itself, which is a picturesque,... More

Love Ribchester. My husband sometimes fishes there. I took our grandchildren round the museum. My 7 year old was interested but my 3 year old wasn't. The playground went down well even though the weather was cold.

I planned a trip to Ribchester with my 10 & 2 year old boys on Sunday morning. I parked up at the pay and display car park next to the playing fields (£2 for 4 hours) and done a loop walk around Ribchester. I headed towards the Roman baths (behind the White Bull) which is free and open from 9... More

Who would have thought a huge Roman town sits under this village , quite a small Museum but lots of information and quite a lot of artefacts on display [although many taken to the British museum ] .

Fantastic museum in the historic Roman village of Ribchester. Fantastic collection to view. The Xbox virtual remake of Ribchester in the Roman era was extremely impressive which I haven't seen in any other museums! Definitely reccommend for history lovers - support the local museum!!!!

Ribchester is an interesting village with Roman remains and the museum is excellent, very informative and well laid out. I was surprised at how good it was.

Very well organised by dedicated educated staff and with links to Lancaster University. A unique place to see a copy of the Roman soldiers helmet which was found in the River Ribble close by to the museum which is now displayed in the British Museum. Many more items also to see from a bygone era. A must for anyone interested... More

We visited Ribchester Roman Museum as a small group on a Thursday afternoon in September. We had arranged in advance for the Curator to speak to us about the Museum and its contents. The Museum is small and excellent. The exhibits are well laid out and easy to understand. One of our group is a wheel-chair user and she found... More

The museum was very interesting and well put together. The children we took with us (8,6 & 2) all found something interesting to look at and loved dressing up in the roman gear.

We made a small trip to Ribchester to visit the Roman remains, visit the Museum and and the wonderful church next door. The visible ruins are confined to a pair of granary building foundations behind the museum and church and the foundations of a largish Roman bathhouse a couple hundred yards through the village. We found the museum very interesting,... More
