Great service

So glad this place was open as the pump out at kingswood was out of order! What a lovely chap who served us and pumped us out. Also we thought we needed fuel but he said we had plenty and so he could have taken additional money off us but didn’t. Feel we were properly looked after.

Excellent day boat
Jul 2017 • Family
Hired a day boat for a family occasion, boat itself was excellent - clean, nicely fitted out and felt modern and airy. We were shown all the controls and had a short instructional sail to make sure we were comfortable with everything.
Friendly, helpful service from owner, would highly recommend this!

great day out
Jul 2017 • Family
The weather stayed fine and warm all day which is a great start. The boat was well fitted out for a day boat and comfortable. ark was very welcoming and explained everything clearly.
We set off from the wharf and Mark met us at the locks to ensure were happy and knew what to do.
The canal here is very rural and with no developments encroaching onto the canal there is lots of wildlife, ducks and birds for children to feed, e even saw a heron at close quarters.
We sailed down to Kingswood junction and after a lunch worked our way back up the Knowle flight of locks which helped to work off lunch.
The boat was easy to handle and moor up and the locks are very straight forward even for beginners.
Overall a really good day out

Fabulous time!

Really helpful and friendly, Mark came on board for a short while to make sure we knew what to do as we were first timers. Lovely boat and an enjoyable afternoon with great scenery. Highly recommended.

Great Day Out
Aug 2016 • Family
The whole day was brilliant. Mark the owner was very friendly and helpful, showed us how the boat worked (actually very simple), how to operate locks, (not as scary as it seems). The canal is very peaceful and not busy. We found a pleasant pub for lunch and then ambled back for teatime. Couldn't believe we were starting yards from M42.

A first class day out - with a difference!
Jun 2016 • Friends
Our party of 8 arrived for our day's hire at 1000hrs, and were carefully briefed on the use of the boat before setting off. Fortunately, we had an experienced canal user in the group, who gave useful advice, and we negotiated a nearby lock before turning round and travelling to the Boat Inn at Catherine the Barnes for an excellent lunch. After lunch we sailed for a further hour towards Birmingham before turning round, and arrived back at the wharf at 1615hrs.

We all found the experience to be both relaxing and challenging. Everyone who wanted to took a session operating the tiller, and controlling the speed of the vessel; we found that the slowest speed was perfectly satisfactory. Rain for most of the morning did not spoil our enjoyment of the cruise,

We encountered only one other moving vessel on the cruise. For day out, with a difference, try a day boat hire from Copt Heath Wharf, which is just 5 minutes drive from Junction 5 of the M42.

Excellent Day Out
Oct 2015 • Couples
Mark was very helpful and informative. Showed us exactly how to handle the boat and was contactable for any queries. Met us at the first lock and showed us how to do this as we were complete novices. We had a very enjoyable day. Take waterproof clothes and spare clothes just in case the weather changes. Driving the boat is all outdoors and standing. Be prepared for aching limbs the next day!

Fabulous day out!
Sep 2015 • Friends
This was given to me as a birthday present and was very enjoyable. On arrival at the wharf we were shown how to use the boat correctly. The boat was capable of taking 10 persons, ideal for a family celebration such as ours. We set off in a southerly direction which would involve a flight of 5 locks. When we arrived at the first lock we were met by the proprietor who showed us how to use them. Having cleared the locks we chugged down as far as the Black Boy pub for lunch. After a good lunch and a beer we returned to base just before 6pm, a great day was had by all!!!

Lovely day out with the relatives!
Jul 2015 • Family
I had seen narrow boats on the English canals, on a travel show in Australia probably 15 years ago, and wanted to do it ever since. So when my cousin said she'd booked a boat for the day I was very excited :D

After arriving and opening the gates leading the wharf parking area, the boat was tied up ready for us. The owner drove with us a little way down the canal, so show us a few things, then we turned around and dropped him off before making our way up the canal.

This was the Grand Union Canal line and the wharf was near bridge 76.

The narrow boat accommodated up to 10 people. Cutlery, crockery etc were provided. There's a small loo on board and some extra folding chairs.

My cousin brought provisions for a picnic lunch on the canal bank, but I think if I did it again, I would just stop for lunch at the last (easily reached in the day's hire) pub - The Navigation, bridge 65.

Great relaxing day out with the family.

Day Boat Hire
Jul 2014 • Family
I am a regular canal boater, and have found the day hire at Copt Heath Wharf one of the better ones. For being friendly, and having well equipped boats. The boats come complete with tea/coffee, milk & sugar.
