About
A multi-purpose arts venue in the heart of Solihull town centre. The Core Theatre comprises a 336 seat raked theatre fully equipped technically with stage flying system, sound and lighting. A smaller multi-use Studio seating up to 130 is equipped for small scale theatrical presentations, music events, workshops, walk-in conferences and day sales etc. The Courtyard Gallery and Art Space is an exhibition space as well as an area for creative activities, which is also available for hire. Contact us to hire any of the spaces. The busy venue hosts a varied mix of professional and amateur events including music, drama, comedy and dance. Most areas are available to hire and successful events are held almost every night ranging from local drama groups to national commercial promoters who find The Core Theatre a thriving, successful venue with loyal and supportive audiences. See hire pages for details of How to hire. The venues’ eatery ENCORE serves hot and cold snacks and drinks plus full catering for functions and events. Box Office is just across the main foyer of our modern, accessible building which is shared with Solihull Central Library and Solihull Connect the one-stop-shop facility for Solihull Council as well as the other new teams and groups recently arriving into Solihull's flagship community venue and information hub.

Cinderella Pantomime 2021. Absolutely amazing performance by all, must give a shout out to the 2 Dames they had me in stitches, suitable for both children and adults. The scenery was the best I've seen in years, the special effects of Cinderella's carriage were enchanting. This is why we should support local theatre. The Encore Cafe is a lovely place to have a pre-theatre snack and drink. Thanks again for a lovely Christmas memory.

Visit the Core theatre regularly and have never been disappointed with any of the productions. I am always very impressed with the excellent customer service at the theatre booking office. The staff are always friendly, courteous and helpful. My husband is registered disabled and the theatre staff are always there to assist. It is a little gem of a theatre!

Visited the Core theatre cafe for morning breakfast roll and coffee today after 6 months of covid closure.
Excellent safety procedures in place with social distancing and track and trace in operation. Staff were welcoming and efficient and we were glad to return to such a safe environment
Well done all.

We visited 'The Core' to see the exhibition 'Solihull then and now' which was on the first floor. The exhibition wasn't overly big but it was interesting to see how Solihull has changed over the years which the vast majority of it hasn't been for the good. It would have been good to see more pictures of the changes but if you like seeing some history it is a good exhibition. There was a short video which someone took while driving round the old streets of Solihull which is like modern day dash cam video which was very interesting and made you wonder how they could allow the destruction of the buildings.

It is easy to get into the library/theatre, there wasn't any barriers which I was expecting. There is a cafe inside as well which didn't try but was reasonably busy as there was a show starting not long after we got there. It is just next to Touchwood by the Cineworld end and just at the top of the escalator for the car park.

A good place to watch a performance, close to the stage, good views from all seating, and prices not overly inflated.

I visited the Solihull Core Library to try the food served at the café rather than watch a theatre production. The food at the cafe is respectable. The place is well kept and the service is fine. I ordered a jacket potato with beans and it met my expectations, it was a generous portion of potato and well-cooked baked beans, the salad wasn’t need but was fine - deserving a rating of 8/10. My buddy ordered a cheese toastie, which earned a decent 7/10, the coleslaw was a bonus. Thanks to the staff at Solihull Library café, looking forward to my next visit.
