A multi-purpose arts venue in the heart of Solihull town centre. The Core Theatre comprises a 336 seat raked theatre fully equipped technically with stage flying system, sound and lighting. A smaller multi-use Studio seating up to 130 is equipped for small scale theatrical presentations, music events, workshops, walk-in conferences and day sales etc. The Courtyard Gallery and Art Space is an exhibition space as well as an area for creative activities, which is also available for hire. Contact us to hire any of the spaces.

The busy venue hosts a varied mix of professional and amateur events including music, drama, comedy and dance. Most areas are available to hire and successful events are held almost every night ranging from local drama groups to national commercial promoters who find The Core Theatre a thriving, successful venue with loyal and supportive audiences. See hire pages for details of How to hire.

The venues’ eatery ENCORE serves hot and cold snacks and drinks plus full catering for functions and events. Box Office is just across the main foyer of our modern, accessible building which is shared with Solihull Central Library and Solihull Connect the one-stop-shop facility for Solihull Council as well as the other new teams and groups recently arriving into Solihull's flagship community venue and information hub.

Nice small local theatre. Comfy seats with a good amount of room in the seats, decent legroom and a good rake so the view is clear. This theatre should be packed every night, and if the acts were a little more mainstream / better known I'm sure it would be. There are currently too many tribute acts on the programme,... More

Went to see The Neale's here Saturday night the show was excellent and the intimate theatre looked fresh in rich purple and white . There is a light and airy ground floor cafe serving meals and drinks reasonably priced ,shame they didn't add more women's toilets there are only 5 on the ground floor and 3 upstairs plus 1 disabled... We come to the Core Theatre café regularly to hold a post cinema discussion group. The staff are always friendly and helpful (even turning the music down on occasions!) Drinks and cakes are excellent and very reasonably priced, especially their afternoon 'drink + cake' deal. We came today with a friend and had the same excellent service and great tea... More

Solihull council have recently revamped the core and made a number of improvements to this area. The theatre is cosy and the line of sight to the stage is very good. Food and drink are available in the cafe in the foyer.

Oh dear.....what an opportunity wasted. A refurbishment that looks like the designer was "on acid" or loves darts! Bright, white, with turquoise dart boards for tables, canteen-like, plastic, with far too strong lighting. No comfort or ambience at all for a pre theatre experience. Why not look at other local theatres for best practice? e.g. the extremely popular and well... More

Attended Trextasey concert on Saturday night with a group of friends. We received a warm and friendly welcome from all of the staff as usual. First visit since the refurbishment, have to say not sure, it doesn't feel quite as nice as it used to and I really don't think the cafe area is very successful at all. It is... More

Three of us visited the cafe during a shopping trip and what an excellent find. We were served by a very helpful young lady who made some suggestions. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The cakes are good and there is a lot of choice The changes that they have made to the cafe are good and I... More

April 2016, not a great experience, queues, tables not cleared, coffee tasted just like hot water! Such a shame, used to be good, think they are disorganised!

Theater quite crammed in I felt..take out the seats by the walls to allow movement.. The seating plan shown online looks nothing like the actual seating , I think maybe it's for another.. who knows !
