Well worth a visit - beautiful abbey steeped in history. Lovely greeting, no admission charge but donations welcome.

Tewkesbury Abbey is the highlight of Tewkesbury - set in lovely grounds.
Use the guide and watch the video inside. No admission charge but donations welcome. We ate in the Touching Souls Cafe afterwards. Friendly service and good solid food at reasonable prices.

Wonderful Abbey
Oct 2021 • Couples
This was the most beautiful abbey. It felt serene, and welcoming. I loved the stained glass window, and the story it told. I also loved the silver statue of Mary. I will certainly visit again.

The abbey is quite awesome, very atmospheric. Steeped in history and wonderful to experience. Donation expected but we’ll worth it.

Lovely cathedral in impressive surroundings
Oct 2021
Lovely cathedral in impressive surroundings - really lovely interior too. Wasn't sure what to expect as I knew most other UK cathedrals but had never visited this one. Very different shape - solid, square looking but still delicate and beautiful. Love the ambulatory and choir.

Highlight of Tewkesbury
Sep 2021
The Abbey is located in the middle of the town and is the main attraction in Tewkesbury. The architecture is beautiful with stained glass windows & ornate ceilings in the interior. There is no entrance fee but you are encouraged to make a donation. The Abbey was quiet when I visited in early September with plenty of space in the interior, all of the visitors wore a mask. It’s also possible to visit the Abbey from the “Battle Trail Walk” which allows you to take photographs of the exterior from a different angle. Well worth a visit.

A lovely visit

Although it floods regularly the abbey and surrounding area is beautifully located. The chairs are now back inside the abbey, which is small enough to get around easily yet large enough to house a lot with seeing. There is a cafe next door too.

A lovely abbey.
Jul 2021
One of the only main attractions in Tewkesbury (other than the town itself, which is beautifully picturesque), this central abbey is impressive.
We were there during opening hours, but, alas, it was closed.
