First time visit since refurbishment.
Nov 2019
Called into this very friendly and welcoming pub with my Sister to be greeted by Ash on the bar. This young woman was friendly, informative and very welcoming. We had first class service and our lunch was good value.
After the visit on my way home I realise I had lost my scarf and after searching in my car and home I thought I may have left it at the Shire Oak. My Sister phoned later and was greeted again by helpful Staff who said she would contact the cleaning Staff and they had found my scarf and it was retrieved on the Friday lunchtime. Thank you to Staff concerned as we had first class service 10/10.

Evening Visit on way to Walsall
Jun 2018 • Business
We stopped here by chance on the way to Walsall. It didn't look much from the outside. Plenty of car parking and can be approached from both sides of the cross roads.
Upon entry we were greeted by a lovely lady who informed us that food was still available at 8:35pm.
We sat down and ordered a sharing starter and then two main meals.
There was a very good choice of menu and the prices were very reasonable.
The food arrived promptly and I have to say the starter was amazing. One of the best sharing platters I have ever had.
The main was even better. If I had one criticism. It would be that the portion sizes were too big. But that would be harsh.
Overall. This is a fantastic little pub and definitely worth a visit.

Oh dear
Dec 2015 • Friends
On arrival we asked how long the food would take to be told 15 to 20 minutes. We ordered one steak, lasagna and chicken and bacon Carbonara. The steak was fine, would have preferred it to have been a bit warmer but quite edible. The lasagna was disgusting great lumps of mince in a lot of fat. The carbonara was cold and quite disgusting. We had to wait for over a hour for the food to arrive. Naturally we complained about the two meals, at the same time as the lady on the next table was also complaining about her lasagna. The waitress was rude and accused one of us spitting food at her (wished I'd got her name) when in fact yes, the food was spit out in to a tissue. Spoke to the manager to get their head office email address or even the brewery details only to be given the number to the pub. It was a miserable cold wet day but they didn't see the need to put any form of heating on. It was cold. Will we be going again NO defiantly not. Such a shame because this is a amazing building

Terrible communication
Dec 2015 • Family
I had booked a table here for today for lunch as it's my birthday I rang a few weeks back and booked us in for the Christmas fayre lunch . On arrival it was freezing in there and dead the staff couldn't find our booking but seated us anyway as no one was in there. Me and mom were looking forward to the Christmas fayre lunch but there wasn't anything on that menu my son would eat so I asked if he could eat off the standard menu to be told the Christmas fayre lunch wasn't available it was only for pre booked people (which we were and we said when booking it was for Xmas fayre lunch) so we could only order off the standard menu which in all honesty looked naff I explained id booked and wasn't happy the did apoligise but to be honest I wasn't impressed it was my birthday I was looking forward to a special lunch there communication is not good staff didn't seem to be on the ball at all I left and went to the Nelson which was fantastic so I never got to try the shire oak food but some how I don't think iv missed out after that miss hap

Newly re-opened !
Dec 2015 • Friends
This recently refurbished pub re-opened on Friday 20 November 2015. It is now selling food, with a set lunch menu of two courses for £7.50 between 12-3pm & two course set evening menu between 5-7.30pm, for £9.50, though food is served till 9pm. The pub looks so much more roomier inside. The right hand side bar has moved further down. Sports matches are shown frequently & there is ample dining area & a big car park. They had 5 real ales on in there today.

Disappointes
Dec 2015 • Couples
Went for lunch and were'nt very impressed at all. Customers were coming in after is and had their orders taken first. The starter was lovely but there was a long wait before it arrived.
Waited a further 25 mins for mains to arrive and had to leave most of it. Chips were hard and fish was tasteless.
Very disappointed as really thought this would be a good choice as it has just opened after a major refurb.
