- Janet K1 contributionRip OffToday the Maidstone Leisure Centre charged me extra entrance fee due to Schools being on half-term holidays for the next two weeks. During ny swim at 1pm loads of school children came in for their swimming g lesson, thought they were on half term!!! On checking the KCC website it states Term 1 ends on 20th October 2023, today's date is 16th October. Is the Maidstone Leisure Centre operating to their own agenda, rip off.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 16, 2023
- Rebs2101 contributionsWhile a good day out, lots of room for improvementUpon arrival it was noted i made a mistake in my booking & had forgotten to book one of my children onto a now fully booked session, staff on reception were fab, understanding & allowed my child to go in with her siblings, really grateful Its a trek to the changing rooms, not many family ones with a baby change bench, one that did have a bench had no harness on it. Changing rooms stank off wee too which wasn't pleasant at all. Plenty of lockers with a refundable £1 coin Aqua challenge was running which looked awesome We visited the main family pool for 90 mins it was looking fab! Lots to do! For all ages. Especially for little ones. I have deaf children, so we're used to going to places where if a wave machine is operating theres a loud tannoy & flashing light. It was such a shame to see they had neither, just a whistle & lots of staff shouting at all those in the pool! Wasn't impressed with that at all Its a long cold trek back to the changing rooms ( you can take a towel poolside) Our children were delighted to be able to use the Polar slides today too as part of their visit Ate & drank at the cafe, wish there were menus on tables or a bigger board, lots of items were sold out or needed restocking All in all we spent the better part of 3.5 hours at the facility, it's a shame to see that theres still no Changing places facility.... to be told to change my daughter on the floor of a toilet is totally unacceptable! So will not come back with my severely disabled daughter which is a shame as she would love this. It's a shame i can't use my pool case on my phone to take pictures when you have your own staff taking pictures for a fee!Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 15, 2024
- Andy2 contributionsGreat day outWas nearly put off by recent reviews but glad I wasn’t! We had great fun at the pool today, Aztec pool refurb is really good, my 2 and 6 year old was constantly on the slides and using the water guns. Waves every 30 minutes and although the pool was busy it wasn’t not too bad. (It is summer holidays so you kind of expect that.) Staff were friendly. Changing rooms were ok, pretty clean and no obvious smells. Quite a few broken lockers/keys but the changing rooms are getting refurbed in December 24 according to signs. Overall, very good and will be back. Would say it’s better suited to toddlers and younger children. Older children might want a pool with flumes rather than just 2 tame slides.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 20, 2024

We decided to book a swim for when The pool reopened and the fact only the fitness pool was open wasn’t a problem for us.
The booking process online was really easy and the instructions were very clear on what we should do at the leisure centre, we arrived as suggested 10 minutes after The session start time as we wouldn’t swim the whole hour and found the changing rooms empty.
We took our bag poolside as instructed & in the pool there was one large slow swimming lane and a smaller slow lane then two or three medium speed swimming lanes and 2 fast swimming lanes; each of the smaller lanes had two or three people in and the largest slow lane had approximately 6 when we arrived. The lifeguard asked people to move along if they could so that they could spread the numbers out.
The lifeguard on duty James was keeping everyone entertained singing along with some of the swimmers in the slow lane with a variety of songs which made everyone laugh and smile. We were given plenty of notice for when our session was nearly up and were able to change In the family changing rooms.
All in all, the new normal swimming was brilliant, if only for adults as children are not allowed in just yet.

I would strongly advise anybody against using maidstone leisure centre for their child's swimming lessons. It is not often I feel the need to do this but I am absolutely appalled with how we have been treated by the leisure centre over the last 3 months. Before the summer holidays, my daughter cut her leg badly in the pool. She walked over to me leaving a trail of blood and the instructed fobbed me off and just said "it happens all the time" well, it shouldn't be happening all of the times, the pools should be maintained so they aren't dangerous and causing injury! On top of this my daughters blood was everywhere and nobody batted an eyelid or tried to clean it.
A few weeks later, they cancelled our lessons about an hour before we were due to turn up before the summer for 2 weeks. Never received a refund. We were then supposed to be offered an intensive swimming course which we were never offered. Tried ringing them for about a month straight about it but they just leave the phone off of the hook so they don't have to answer it.
Today I have turned up to send my child for her lesson and nobody turns up to take her in! 15 mins pass and we are told the lesson time has changed, but nobody thinks to tell us this. I have places to be and a younger child who I need to get fed and into bed. He fell asleep without tea tonight due to this. Could have been avoided with a bit of communication. The lesson also finishes early. I am SO close to cancelling her membership because I am sick to the back teeth of it. I have tried contacting their staff and I have just been ignored time and time again.
On top of this, the centre is dirty and smelly and has been for months! Changing rooms stink of urine and fish. Showers are scalding hot to the point you can't stand under them for too long, certainly too hot for children. AVOID.
The staff clearly don't give a s*** because they have ignored all complaints made not only by me but by other members of staff and have done absolutely nothing!!!

We travelled after seeing the it had 5 pools, slides, lazy river and wave machine. Firstly, there was no information online to say it was limited to 1.5hrs in the pool, yet still full price. Then we were told after getting in that the wave machine no longer worked. The 5 so called pools they have include the diving pool (closed), the main pool (closed), a smaller top pool (closed), a baby pool, and then the main kids area. This area had people crammed in so unable to play any games with the kids. Their 2 slides was actually only 1 slide. The lazy river was nothing but a side part of the pool which had no current to glide you down it, it ended with a dead end and full of kids splashing about.
It really was a truly terrible experience and we won't be back!

You are given a time slot on arrival, we had to wait 2 hours for our swim time. Toilets were the worst I’ve ever seen, with brown sludge in every corner and dirty nappies on the floor. They clearly hadn’t been checked or cleaned for some time. Cafe was closed and the vending machines were either broken or only accepted cash! We were unable to get our children a drink of water. Absolutely disgraceful. They let every child waiting to swim into the soft play area, so it was massively overcrowded yet the polar slides were closed due to COVID restrictions (August 2021). What a joke. We will not be returning. This place needs an inspection.

Despite having two confirmation emails confirming cancellation of membership for my kids swim lessons. I have now, for the second month, been charged. I still have not been refunded for the first instance despite numerous emails to them. They never answer the phone. They acknowledge receipt of emails but don’t call or email back.
Thoroughly annoyed with them. We stopped membership because of poor service levels and this seems to be a continuing theme.
Hopefully someone will see this and decide to do something?

Let me start by saying I’ve rated this venue poor not because of the facilities but because of the hygiene and cleanliness! The lagoon/fun pool was great kids loved it water is warm, they had slide, waves and floats all going which was great even had good music playing to get you in the spirit of summer and top it all it wasn’t to busy/overcrowded. The changing rooms and showers were of an ok standard but you can see in places they are tired some hairdryers weren’t working. We went to the cafeteria after and the only got food they sold was chips which is something I suppose when we received our portion of chips was a fair price for the portion you got but the quality was awful the chips were way overcooked and inside were still raw they looked like they had been cooked in old oil so I sent them back and got a refund. The toilets downstairs in the dingy tired unclean Polar Adventure/ adventure slides are a lot to be desired I went into the ladies and walked straight back out and ade a complaint straight away, the smell of urine was overpowering, one of the toilets was out of order and the other one had used sanitary towels all around the toilet on the floor it was disgusting on reporting it the young girl did go into the toilets to clean them.
Irrespective of this they should’ve been cleaned and checked regularly in order for this not to have happened.
Overall this place is only recommended for the Swimming and the soft play in my opinion Just don’t use the toilet or make sure you take lots of sanitiser with you and definitely don’t buy any chips from their café

Didn’t even get through the front door.
No booking system (well, there is a link to book, but it takes you to a booking system for pools in basingstoke and Birmingham!!) (see photos). We drove half an hour with our two children to arrive to a huge queue and a woman telling everyone they were ‘at capacity’ and it was a ‘one in, one out’ system now, which would have taken a good hour at least! So we left, much to the disappointment of our children .
Ridiculous, why have they scrapped their booking system? The woman said there was a note at the top of the website, which there isn’t.. (see photos)
We won’t be returning.

New updated splash pad is great. However we paid £28 and was only in the pool for 45 minutes as the water was freezing and my little girls lips went blue. Constantly being splashes in the face as well as the pool was over packed. Waves were poor as well. Hardly any of the showers were working either and half the key bands had snapped in the lockers. I have emailed but had no response.

I visited the new Amazon Adventure soft play at the weekend with my mum and toddler. We were super excited as we knew the soft play had been revamped. I was pleased that when I purchased my online ticket, there were only 30 slots available, and assumed this meant it wouldn't be too busy.
I thought wrong!!! Upon entering, it was clear there were over 100 children in there. When you factor in their grown-ups (who congregate at the bottom as there is nowhere to sit), it was absolutely packed. Nowhere to put shoes, bags, drinks etc.
and all the parents and carers were moaning, saying they had never been to a soft play as awful as this and that it used to be good. I stayed for the full hour and a half (mainly on the top floor of the softplay as it was less chaotic up there) and in this time so many people came and left utterly disappointed.
Don't get me wrong, it's a fab softplay with great features. But far too many children are let in. I believe children must be entering from the pool and volcano slides because I've been assured by staff that only the correct number of tickets were sold in compliance with health and safety. Well, let me tell you. It was NOT safe. Children were bumping heads, climbing over the smaller children, adults were cramped and spilling drinks. Wrist bands were not checked once. There was no warning for people to leave after their time was up so I assume they just stay, adding to the chaos.
I went to the toilet but couldn't use it as it was covered in faeces.
I certainly will not be returning at weekends or holidays. "Carnage" and "bedlam" were words I heard a lot in Saturday and I have to agree. It was the perfect definition of both. A waste of £10 and a disappointed toddler.

Haven’t been to Maidstone for swimming for a couple years and won’t be returning again.
Upon booking it stated nowhere that half the ‘leisure’ features weren’t working. The rapids, the waves and the children’s pool were all off. But the place was absolutely filthy EVERYWHERE.
I get this time of year mud gets walked in. But this was pure grim that’s had been building up for several days/weeks.
You could physically wipe the firm off the tiles in the swimming pool.
Along the walk to the leisure pool the metal railings around the bottom you could see built up stuff on the the floor. Clumps of hair and yes dirt.
There were dead flies stuck to the walls in the changing area and I had to put a towel down because my children’s feet were getting filthy.
Only on the way out wee saw someone with any type of cleaning equipment but he wasn’t cleaning. Only walking with it and we saw hun moments later outside the changing area with another member of staff.
I had to go straight home and wash!
Disgusted

Hello! How has the others find their swimming lessons? I am interested in adults swimming lessons but as it is run by the same company for the child as well then any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you.

i had the same problem only its knock on effects will ruin the life i live at the moment. im sorry no one from the pool responded to you i expect the same ask im just one person being conned out of money when i always thought it was a free carpark with no restrictions to people using the center
its outrageous that you cant get any help and for me it has been life changing to a point that i really think this is going to change my life for the worst. i wished i had never decided to go to there disability group swim
we even called ahead of time and not once did they tell us about the car park, and no where does it say dont forget or you get 100 pound parking charge

i wish someone had "urged" me at the counter to safeguard myself. This did not happen and it was not even a busy period at the pool.
it is good to know that there is no way to speak to this car park management that even though they claim to respond in 24 hours, not once in 37 calls did they ring back.
and when you appeal, which i might add the pool sent for me, was also completely ignored. and i was never sent a copy of what was sent to the car park as i trusted that the people who hired them would know what to do, that i was safe 40 pounds became 100 pounds.... it makes me cry inside that i was late filling in a form to say what a wonderful time i had. recommending the pool to other disabled people.

Does anyone know if one adult can take two children (aged 7 and 5) swimming at this facility.
Written December 10, 2015
Hi,
Yes, the ratio for adult to child swimming is as detailed below:
Children aged 4-7 must be accompanied by a
responsible adult (16+) in the ratio of 2:1. If one or
more child is under the age of 4 they must be
wearing suitable buoyancy aids such as armbands or
floatation jackets. Children under the age of 4 may
swim without buoyancy aids on a 1:1 basis.
