This museum must make Maidstone very proud. Housed in a fabulous Elizabethan manor house with a contemporary extension, there are collections to suit all ages and interests. The Japanese room is beautiful. The temporary 'Treasures from Trash' exhibition both sobering and marvellous. I almost literally bumped into a boy in the Egyptian section who was lying in wait for a... More

The dinosaur exhibition was a real hit with my five year old, she wasn't interested in much else! There is plenty to see though. I also have a one year old who is not quite walking yet, some exhibitions are upstairs where pushchairs are not permitted so meant I had to carry her which was a bit of a pain.... More

My wife is keen on visiting churches and we made our first ever visit to Maidstone early on a Sunday morning. We stopped at a town centre car park to take a quick look at the Archbishops's hbouse and to decide whether a more detailed visit to the nearby local church would be suitable the next day, We got a... As a former headteacher I usually steer children away from museum trails, they are so restrictive and boring. The education staff have put together a great trail which is inclusive of all abilities and interests. 'Find a large object' allowed my two grandchildren to go off exploring the museum together, while making different choices of what interested them or caught... More

As is often the case you don't often visit local attractions of the town you live in but we decided to take a look at Maidstone museum - the first time since it was refurbished and modernised a few years ago. It was interesting, well planned an laid out, some interesting exhibits (the recycling one in particular) and one of... More

Visited this museum in july with friends. The staff here were friendly and helpful. The museum includes a decent sized collection of objects considering it is free.

Hi Jet Thanks for your kind words. With over 600,000 objects to look after we wouldn't disagree it's decent sized! I hope we'll see you again. Victoria Museums Director More
