    Highly recommended
I am in my early 60s, fairly fit, had never climbed before and was looking for a physical challenge. I booked a private taster session, limited to climbing with ropes as I suffer from back problems. Phil, my instructor, was excellent: providing an appropriate harness to minimise pressure on my back, teaching me to attach the rope to my harness myself, giving clear instruction and encouragement throughout and working at a pace that suited me. I completed 6 climbs in one and a half hours, including the 11m wall. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a "bucket list" challenge.

    Worth its weight in gold
Well organised, well staffed, calm atmosphere. One of our children is scared of heights, and he climbed more than a couple steps which is an amazing achievement, due to the time and patience of the staff. Would recommend anytime.

    Adult taster session
Great experience, instructor was amazingly helpful and able to answer any and all questions. Went for an adult taster session with my girlfriend and was put in a group of 4 people which was the perfect size. Centre was popular but not too busy and this was a weekend in the late afternoon. Excellent facilities and would highly recommend trying at least once. As long as you don’t need your fingers the next day that is!

We had the pleasure of visiting Big Rock with the children last week. They thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and want to go again. Steph was absolutely brilliant with the group and made all of them feel comfortable and safe. Thank you Steph and thank you Big Rock

    Michael is excellent!
We visited today for a climbing session with our two children aged 9 and 6. We were in a group with three other children and Michael was our instructor. Our children have climbed at various other climbing centres. Michael made our visit to Milton Keynes truly brilliant and unique. He was energetic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He kept the children busy and interested. Thank you Michael and everyone else for making our experience a warm and welcoming one.

    Great time
Took my two younger sisters climbing here ,first time for one of them and third time climbing for the other sister. Fair to say they loved it ,ended up staying for 7 hours and exhausted them both. They pushed themselves to their limits and had a great time

    Great for beginners / learners
Participated in a 4-week adult "learn to climb" course with my sibling and one other person. Our first session was with Dani and the last three were with Zoe - both were great and kind instructors who helped us feel really supported and were able to adapt their approach to our group's different experience levels. I have been to both the Kingston and Bletchley venues before and found both to be great experiences: clean, clear instructions, friendly staff, etc. :)

    Fanstatic experience taster
Amazing fanstatic 1 hrs and 30 mins taster sessions. The staff were welcome and friendly. The instructor was fanstatic at her job and giving us more in depth about climbing. There are different types of climbing and was very impress with the size of the building with different design. There is a cafe there too so if you gasping for a drink or need a break or when you finish it there for you to relax and watch other doing their climbing or advice needed to chat with other climber. Def come here is worth to do and it that get you going, then try the four week course that give you more in depth.

    What's not to like...
Wednesday afternoons are absolutely the best time to go for a bouldering introduction course. Lots of time on the bouldering wall, excellent instruction and chat and some rather cool demos by insanely talented folk of what you can achieve if you work hard! The coffee was also terrific.

I participated in the adult climbing course on Saturday and overall had been pleased and impressed by the experience and facilities.

However, I found the end of the course very unpleasant. with no warning or extra help to support me to reach the standard needed to be safe when using Big Rock, I was that I wouldn’t be able to access unlimited climbing for a month due to the fact I had at times, struggled during the course. I was incredibly surprised as although I did find using some of the equipment tricky initially, I had been carrying on and not told that I was not near the expected standard. In fact, the instructor had spoken to me very little, more so towards the end of the session, and I had assumed this was because I was increasing my skills and becoming more independent.

After paying £80 to learn to climb and have the opportunity to embed the skills I learned after, I was not impressed at having been left to fail and potentially practise wrong and asked to speak to a supervisor, which caused me distress and embarrassment as I had wanted to finish happy and with a sense of a achievement. Instead I was close to tears because of the awkward situation I found myself in.

Luckily, the supervisor was very calm and managed the situation well, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank her for sorting the situation so quickly. When I pointed out that being failed without prior warning was unfair and asked for a refund for the unlimited climbing, she let me do a second test, which I then passed and was allowed to have the unlimited climbing. However despite her best intentions, this left me feeling embarrassed and awkward as the issue in question could have been rectified easily during the session.

The second issue is that time was not used appropriately; the session finished 40 minutes early. This extra time was then used for test at my request that caused me more anxiety when the time could have been used for a little extra boost, which seemed to be all I needed, as the supervisor and another instructor were both satisfied that I was at an adequate standard after 5 short minutes of extra climbing.

It is such a shame as I feel all of this could have been easily avoided: I could have been taken to the side with an hour to spare and warned that some skills were not of the standard expected and offered extra help. Neither of these things happened and When I emailed my suggestions, the centre manager could not even find the time to reply to my email

Overall, although the facilities are good, the customer service and value for money for the price you pay means that I would recommend other centres for nervous climbers or people who actually would like support from the staff.

Big Rock is a great place for indoor climbing with really good variety in both bouldering and roped routes, both of which are reset on a regular basis. Staff are very friendly. Along with all the staff at Big Rock, Rachel Sutton, with all her years of applied experience is always the all knowing oracle of knowledge ready to offer skilled advice. Not only informative, she continually makes the climbing environment an amazingly social place, intuitively mixing you up with others when she sees people at a loose end and might like a belay. It's not only the people working at Big Rock, the regulars are amazingly friendly! That, and with all the courses to get you going and moving forward on your progression path if you fancy it, makes both Big Rock sites in Milton Keynes an ideal place to begin and continue climbing.

Completed a progression course at Big Rock this week, what a brilliant experience! I've been bouldering for about 3-4 months and was looking for some tips on how to press on and get better. The course exceeded my expectations and I'm so glad I did it. The instructor, Phil, was brilliant, fully engaged and really took time to understand what each of us was hoping to get out of the evening.
The ratio of 6:1 was just right, it was great to climb with others but small enough that we all got plenty of attention. The gym wasn't too busy and it didn't feel like we were getting in the way. Overall I really recommend these courses if you want to start taking your climbing to the next level 😀🧗‍♀️

My son (15) and daughter (10) had their first lesson with James and they had a brilliant time. This was our first visit to Big Rock but won’t be our last. James was kind, encouraging and very knowledgeable. With two very different abilities he made sure both had fun and progressed. We had a go on both the ropes and bouldering very testing but very enjoyable. All the staff had their charges fully engaged and it was lovely to see children helping and encouraging each other but still with a competitive element. Well done will be back soon.

As part of our winter training programme, we regularly visit bigrock hub and bond, both excellent venues with good route variations. Rachel Sutton offtern gives us encouragement and tips on climbing techniques and skills, this has helped improve our climbing grades massively. Thanks

My Son regularly climbs at Big Rock as part of his Rockhoppers lesson on a Saturday. He thoroughly enjoys the lessons and has a very knowledgeable instructor. He is working his way through the NICAS indoor climbing awards which are part of the lesson plan. He has just completed his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and climbing was his skill element. The instructor was very helpful and signed his climbing element off so that he can get it approved by the assessor. If your child is looking for a skill for their DofE, I would recommend climbing. It's not weather dependent and you as a parent don't have to stand out in the pouring rain. ;-) I regularly climb at Big Rock myself and have made a great group of friends in the process.

I've become a regular after a few coached sessions, the coaches were great fun and very supportive and knowledgeable, as are the centre staff in general. There's a good selection of hire gear for beginners as well as a well stocked shop for the more experienced or long term climber and a cafe with good food at good prices if you want to take a break.
There are 2 climbing centres within 5/10 minutes drive between and all entry prices are combined allowing acess to both sites. The other site (Bond) being more bouldering centred and Hub boasting a longer climbing wall section with lead climbs, top rope belay and auto belay routes as well as a very good selection of bouldering walls (all climbing styles are available at bond but only Hub has the taller wall section at 11 metres for those looking for more endurance in their climb). The centre has a full warm up gym with training boards/campus boards/hangboards and good changing rooms/facilities.

We were 4 adults and one small child all climbing together. Some had climbed a little before and others were totally new. Our instructor, Abi, made sure that everyone got plenty of climbing time and felt safe & confident. By the end we were even racing each other! Would thoroughly recommend.

While visiting family we needed something to do with 2 very active teens so Big Rock was suggested. Brilliant choice! We booked the private climb session so the boys could have more experience. Their instructor Alex was fantastic! She put the boys at ease, engaged them in conversation throughout and let them challenge themselves. They had an amazing time and were worn out after 1 and half hrs. Worth every penny! Thank you Alex for helping the boys have an amazing time.
