The best beer in Stony Stratford
Sep 2018 • Friends
The town of Stony Stratford is littered with pubs but if you’re a beer fan then this is the only place to go. There is a good selection of bottled beers to take away and some snack foods such as local pork pies and crisps. The real draw is an excellent selection of often locally sourced craft beers. An excellent addition to Stony Stratford.

Smarter Than the Average Bar, Booboo!

The difficulty, at the Beer Bear, is making your choice between the tens (possibly hundreds!) of speciality beers. For a beer lover, it's an Aladdin's cave. The modern trend for craft beers was clearly the springboard for this excellent little bar but, for someone who has been into real ales for decades, savouring new and interesting brews is a familiar pleasure. The theme of a modern trend imitating a traditional idea continues with the ambiance of this excellent little hostelry. It is intimate and convivial, with the feeling of a front parlour. Simple, tasteful décor, no juke boxes or slot machines, seating laid out in a series of small rooms - all of this creates a rather civilised atmosphere in which sitting, sampling interesting beers with friends and chatting or even reading a book seems more appropriate than swilling back eight pints before staggering out for a kebab. As well as a selection of beers on tap, you can choose a can or bottle from the large range on the shelves. These are also available to take away and the long opening hours of the bar reflect the fact that it is part pub, part shop. The drinks are rather pricey but that is generally the case with craft beers and I'd expect to pay roughly the same elsewhere. Snack food is also available. I tried a locally produced pork pie and it was very good. All in all, a great little place that I will be very pleased to revisit.

Great for Ale Lovers
Jan 2018 • Friends
If you like real ale and craft beers then you have to visit this place, its a small oasis but has some fine ales, never seen or heard of most of them. Its a great place, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Long may it last - well done,

An asset for Stony
Nov 2017 • Family
Our family think Beer Bear is great. We all meet here and there is an interesting selection of beer and cider on tap as well as bottles. People talk to each other here so if you come in on your own you’re soon be chatting with someone. We also enjoy their bar at the monthly ‘Eat Street’ at York House on the 1st Friday of each month. It’s just a fabulous place.

Great beers, quirky pub
Sep 2017 • Couples
The beer bear is like having a beer in your front room. Which is obvious when you realise that it is a converted house. There is a great selection of unusual, local, beers and the prices are fairly reasonable. Bar snacks are also available. I'd highly recommend this bar if your in stony and want a slightly quirky pub.

Extensive selection of beer
May 2017 • Friends
This is a great place to go if you are looking for beer, extensive range of beers and ciders too but not so great if you are the designated driver with very minimal soft drink selections. My friends enjoyed their beers but for me it was a bit of a let down. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff though. This would be the place to go for maybe one beer or just buying craft beers for a gift before moving on to a "proper pub". The reason for my 3 stars would be due to the fact that the soft drink selection is too limited with bad tasting craft cola or cloudy lemonade or ginger beer the only options. Really let the place down, a local apple juice or something similar would have been a real hit.
