We try and get down to the railway a few times a year for the miniature train rides and to support this local company. From getting the tickets to ride and the enthusiasm of the drivers this is a fab low cost experience for all ages. If you are local to Basingstoke and havn't tried it you really should.

Have lived in Basingstoke for a number of years but only discovered this little gem of a railway at Halloween (after attending an event in the same location) We rode the train around 5pm, when it was dark, and the team who run the train had decorated the area so it was all spooky - totally in line with the... Despite being relatively late on this Sunday afternoon; we were warmly welcomed and so were able to make a number of pleasant and swift circuits; hauled by each of the two scale replica locos in steam, a black BR liveried B1 and green painted 10 coupled 9F “Evening Star”. A nice end to the weekend on a positive note.

Kids love it but it is more fun to watch the fathers little faces light up at the sight of these miniature models hauling what appears to be an impossible amount of people around the... More

Our boys (aged 5 & 3) loved it last year, a nice little treat and not very expensive. Looking forward to taking them to the Steam Rally Exhibition again this year on 13th & 14th April.

The system is looking quite run down at Viables, this may a winter issue as we have not been during the summer months

We are sorry the site did not look as good as we would hope when you visited. The railway was built, is maintained and run by a group of volunteers (Basingstoke Model Engineering Society) in their spare time. As a community of engineers we tend to focus on the safety and maintenance of the track, locos and rolling stock; and... More
