Absolutely huge fantastic working steam engines. Lots of information and wonderful staff (volunteers). The machines are well presented, and everywhere was clean. Although I live the Manchester area, this was my first visit, but it will not be my last. At present there is no...More

Hi Robert S Some of our engines are, as you say huge and some are suite small, but they all have one thing in common. They were all of a type used in the textile industry in the north of England. Thanks for your review...More

Fabulous watching the engines working, even if you think engineering is not your thing. Shame it is not more often open. (usually, just on holiday weekends plus Monday). Free, but you should leave a donation.

Hi axxa57 Thanks for your great review, you are quite right you do not need to be an engineer there.is still plenty to see and do for us lesser mortals. Come again.

I had visited the museum previously but not in the last 3 years and was delighted to find all the 'improvement work' completed. The gallery houses an excellent and enlarged tea area upstairs with a cup of tea at 60p, yes just 60p! Taking the...More

The museum is open in steam most bank holidays and every Sunday and Wednesday. When we are not in steam but will be happy to run some of the engines electrically.
