    Amazing place. Never knew existed!!!
Came here with the children. I can’t believe this place is free. From a full museum ranging from Victorian to Egyptian then an aquarium down stairs too there’s plenty for them to do. It’s great if you need to kill some time or just a wander around

    Excellent
I had the pleasure of spending some time here recently. It was amazing. For a town museum it was absolutely amazing. There were so many things children and adults could so. I avoided the dressing up chest nothing on my size!😀. The refurbishment is done to a very high standard. It is still a work in progress. I was absolutely delighted. So many things made to explore. There were children visiting and they were discussing in a group about their learning. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There are folding chairs for convenience. A small gift shop. The film of Bolton then and now was great. Done so well. I'd definitely say it is worth going to and enjoying. The gallery of Bolton painters and sculptures was a surprise. All in all excellent.

    Best of Bolton
I just love this museum. Especially the Egypt room. Truly worth a visit. Sadly the library was being refurbished at the time of visit, but hope to see it next time. Love the little gift shop too. Nice art work and lots of local history. Great for children .

Visited the moon exhibition in December. Young Library assistant Zara helped with information and took some photographs of us . This place is “first in field “ as museums and art galleries go. I ll be back . Thank you for a great visit.

Enjoyed the museum except for the aquarium, the tanks are just too small. It is distressing to see these large animals in such small spaces.

What a great place. I went here as a child, I took my children and I’ve taken my grandchildren.
That must be a recommendation.

Superb Museum. The curators have done a terrific job, in particular, of presenting ancient Egyptian society, and importantly, the Egyptian involvement with Polytheism. Exhibits are displayed attractively, and labels are clear and concise, with facts articulated honestly, that are neither dumbed down nor apologetic.
The staff were helpful and friendly.
The museum experience is 100% spot on. Don't expect fun & games, as this is one of the few real museums that have not been turned into a people pleasing interactive room.
To summarise, the management have presented ancient Egypt for you to explore, and with just a little imagination, it can come to life for you and your family, when you visit too!
There is also a lovely gift shop, and a zoo status aquarium. The library is currently not open at this location.
