Absolutely fantastic walk around the Water Country Park and the Coate Nature Reserve - it really is quite stunning. Lots of Swans, Geese, Cormorants - unfortunately did not see any Herons - I had a wonderful 4 hours there and saw plenty, lots of places where you can take a set if you need to sit and rest or just take time to slt and let the world go by. Car Parking extremely good as it as only £ 2 for the whole of the time I was there but you may need to make sure you have your phone as only one of
the machines accepted cash the others insisted on you having to call the parking app There is a delightful little café and they have a great range to choose, the latte is fantastic and the bacon roll was absolutely yummy

Found this place by luck- looking for somewhere to meet my Mum outdoors halfway between my place and hers near London. Really nice walk with diverse wildlife and good for the dog- although need to be careful with him around the swans! At the end we had a good cup of coffee and a burger from the cafe. No trouble parking which was reasonably priced at £1 for 2 hours or £2 all day.
Left wanting to come back and explore the nature reserve in the future.

A very simple and easy place to visit, and I dont live so far from this place, so can walk there.
I often walk here with doggo and enjoy the views, and there is a little cafe there to get drinks and snacks.
Cafe is card only, no cash.

The ticket office is very helpful and super friendly. There is a special area to leave the pram so it’s safe. We loved it so much we went in it twice. All staff super friendly and make the experience magical for young children. My son wouldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the journey home (2 hours of it) £2 a ticket is worth every penny!

Things to note: Love the Lake, nice walk, saw a fish, Rode the train, saw A Swan. I think that this was a good one, parking was a bit peak so would recommend an Uber to get you there.

Thanks

Nice walk for 45 minutes with the dog off leash. People seem friendly which was nice. Parking easily paid via and app and cost £1 for 2 hours. Only downside was the amount of rubbish. Some bins were overflowing and nobody had been round to tidy up so rubbish was ending up I the water

Situated to the south east of Swindon and a short distance from J15 of the M4 this is a spacious country park centred around Coate Water. The north end by the car park and facilities does have an air of past glories about it with the walk section by the small cafe and the shelter more resembling a popular speed dating spot for an enormous amount of pigeons and the now disused concrete diving board is a sun spot for seagulls. A lot of the family activities still appear to be closed, such as the pitch and putt and small steam train but the kiddies splash water park did seem to be functioning.
But for adults out for a stroll then once you get away from this north end it really is a very pleasant stroll around the lake, which will take 40 minutes to an hour depending on your walking pace, or longer if you take advantage of the many resting places to take in the pleasant vistas.
I understand there is a small charge for the car park, which has upset some local dog walkers, and I do see their point that Swindon council should spend that money maintaining the north end of the country park. But I am in no position to comment as we had lunch in the nearby Sun pub and there is a path from the pub car park to the country park, thus avoiding the park parking charges.

I visited today with a small group of people with learning disabilities plus staff. We really enjoyed walking around the lake looking at the wildlife, relaxing in the sun and eating bacon rolls from the refreshment kiosk..perfect day out
