The Last Post is certainly one of the smallest pubs I've ever been to (though not quite as tiny as the Pump It Up in Belper): You get about 10 people in there and it's packed! But the place oozes community atmosphere, and you'll get into talking with other patrons immediately. At least that was my own experience, and I'm a rather shy, reserved person. The selection of drinks is also excellent: a fair number of hand pumps, and, more importantly, they offer real ales from smaller breweries, and the not usual, jaded Doom Bar or Pedigree. Lovely, helpful barman, too. The range of single malt whiskies outshines that of many much larger establishments. And, even in a place for just ten people, The Last Post offers live music! Highly recommended real ale micro for Derby, even if it's a bit off the beaten track.

The landlord and landlady are very welcoming and also the staff. They have a great range of beers and whiskeys at great prices. It's got very friendly customers that make you feel welcome and have fantastic live music. We need more places like this very community orientated. If you go to Derby this place is defiantly a place to visit.

Live music every weekend which has a great atmosphere. Nice selection of beers and whiskeys am particularly fond of the port. Cute little beer garden great in the summer months. Staff are friendly and always fun especially the landlord. Top little place.

Cosy little pub housed in a former post office with four real ales on draft, as well as a decent lager, cider and craft beer on keg and a lovely range of whiskys. It was a bit empty when we arrived fairly early on a Saturday evening but that was just good timing as the place soon filled up for a live music evening (acoustic - there's no need for any amplification in a place this small). Staff and customers were all very friendly and the owners and landlord(s) are clearly passionate about what they do. It's just a great little proper old fashioned pub really.

after working in the brewery and pub trade for many years in cornwall, moved to derby and after trying so many pubs in a short amount of time, i finally found the last post with a friend. immediately me and my friend fell in love with the charismatic place. good prices, loyalty card, a great selection of ales and ciders. most important of all, the customers are warm and equiped with a great sense of humour. the landlord and landlady are a fantastic couple who are passionate about ale and the place they run. the music is a good scene. and everyone welcomed me with open arms. i feel like a local in derby, a part of the community. the place is small i will have to admit, but once you say hello and order a drink, that is not something you think about at all. its just nice to be there. real people, a real place. since then its added a spirits license, and has a great array of whiskey choices which, like the beers, the owners are passionate about. this is now my place to be when i want a drink for any occasion.

Evening of 13/1/17. Walked in. Full. Good beer. Good atmosphere - but then the 'musician' started. Within 20 minutes there were very few customers left in the pub. Unfortunately, if a 'musician' is used, then this can affect the whole pub experience, either positively or negatively. One expects a micro-pub to focus on good conversation and beer above anything else.

Love this little gem of a pub.
Traditional british pub squeezed into an old post office shop. Cozy and comfy.
Super landlord and lady , Karen and Chris ,who always make you feel at home and also greet you with a smile .
Great choice of real ales and couple of ciders that change frequently but also has some regular drinks as well.
As previously mentioned amazing pork pies (and pickles) , and nice selection of other bags of snacks to treat yourself .
Definitely worth a visit
I'll certainly be returning
