Haven't been to Derby for a few years, but this used to be my first port of call from the station when going to the football. However, this time, some miserable old gimmer on the back door wouldn't let us in as we're from Sheffield. I'm 69 years old, and my 2 mates are 70! So I'd recommend popping round the corner to the Alex, where we got a warm welcome and some finel ale......

Went in with friends for a few drinks and right away, I would recommend this pub to any real ale drinkers. There was a big selection including many very unique ales which you won't find anywhere else. But there was still plenty of choice for none ale drinkers. It's an older styled pub, not really for younger kids looking to party. Some of the rooms have interesting décor which has a theme of train travel, which makes sense due to it's location next to the railway station. I suspect it can be busy on football match nights as this area often is. But when quieter, you could definitely have a pleasant pint with friends or family.

Nice beer (The Usual) and with the atmosphere finally returning after all this covid lark, hopefully things beginning to look up again. Very nice fresh cheese and onion cobs too!

Great atmosphere on a midweek evening visit, beer drinkers amongst us appreciated the chance to try out more of the excellent choice of beers with the board of 3 small glasses. Friendly staff.

This pub is hard to fault. The ale, mostly brewed on site, is excellent. There are many to choose from so fill your boots! The staff are very helpful and the building is very different. A superior pub in all respects. Love it.

Strange times with track and trace, table service etc but despite the weird atmosphere this causes they have done the best they can.
Beer quality as good as ever so roll on a return to normality.

I have visited this pub numerous toes in the past and it has never failed to disappoint. The Brunswick Inn is just a 1 minute walk from Derby Railway station and around a 8 minute walk from Derby city centre, making it an ideal local to come and try some premium home brew beers, lagers, ales and ciders. The pub has a really nice interior with little nice nacs everywhere giving it a nice cosy and timely feel. The Brunswick also offers a food menu and a lot of space to sit both indoor and outside. Overall, this really is a must visit pub when in Derby. What would I recommend - Thistly cross (whiskey cask/cider).

Stopped in for a pint on our way to the train station. Very impressed with the COVID precautions in place, excellent job. Thank you for taking the extra effort to make your customers feel comfortable and safe in these current times. Throughly enjoyed our pints of Railway Porter!

We’ve been looking forward to a trip on the train for a cosy lunch at the Brunswick throughout lockdown. We are not disappointed. We booked last night and were asked where we would like to sit - a great detail following COVID precautions.
There is a clearly signed one way system, screens at the bar and everywhere is scrupulously clean.
The range and quality of beers is wonderful. My go-to choice is Railway Porter.
The food is excellent and very well priced.
Whatever the Brunswick sets out to do, whether brewing, food, COVID precautions or events, it does well.
Great pub. So pleased to be back.

Visited for lunch
Things have changed in view of COVID-19 and having to follow guidelines accordingly so you will notice the plastic safety barriers on the bar now and slightly less tables than before but even in light of this it remains full of character
Staff are very pleasant and helpful
This pub is a lovely pub with well kept beers and prices are good too.
The menu is now in large print on a window with a varied menu and something for everyone.
My partner chose the cheeseburger which he said was really good and very good value
I chose their fish pie... this is one of the best fish pies I have ever tasted. Very tasty and full of fish including mussels and prawns too, with a fluffy mashed potato and cheese topping
The chef is a very good cook
Nice area outside with a few tables and chairs
3/4 other separate rooms to sit too
