Waterfall

The Waterfall pub is a large pub situated opposite Derby Railway station and around a 10 minute walk from Derby city centre. The Waterfall offers a basic range of beers you'd expect but at a seriously premium rate of around £4.50 a pint. The pub is extremely big and has a pool room and 2 large function rooms. The cost of pool is £1 per 15 minutes. There has been literally no work done on the pub for as long as I can remember even though it's a huge building I don't get the inflated rate on the alcohol. The Waterfall does show the football and other live sport on several screens. The pub also offers a menu from which I've eaten from before and it is adequate. The pub lacks a serious amount of character and given other pubs in the area I would advise you steer clear.

Food was poor
Aug 2020 • Family
The food we ordered was cold when I received it. I had about 10 chips on my plate and they were cold at that. I asked for a burger with nothing on it, it came with onions and cheese on it. The bar man with curly hair was very nice, good service. Would defo not come back for food again.

Nice pint great staff
Jan 2020 • Friends
Nice pint and lovely friendly staff.
Couldn't find the goat that was mentioned in a previous review though. A bit of a shame as I was looking forward to seeing some livestock roaming around the bar and was one of the reasons why I decided to go. I guess the smell must have been coming off that person or from another astablishment in the area .
I guess only time will tell.

What was that smell?
Dec 2019 • Family
It smells like they keep goats in here, and they seem to allow people standing inside the entrance to smoke. Needs a lot of paint and maybe scrape some damp mold off the wall near the window soon? The guy behind the bar was polite and the drinks were quite cheap.

Not worth it

Terrible beer un trained staff, not the staff members fault she was new and clearly had very little training but while she struggled to serve other staff just stood around and chatted. At £4.20 a pint go elsewhere, never left a trip advisor review before but I feel the need to for here

Never ever again
Oct 2019 • Business
So many negatives for this place now when I really do like to give praise instead of moan but the place really is a dump. Cold, damp and dirty but Carling is £4.20 and wine starts at £15.75. The gents toilets were a health hazard, both loos blocked to the top and someones idea of cleaning the urinals was to just leave green gunge running down the wall?. If the target market is business and parties you have so got to raise your game. Returned home in my best gear in desperate need of a shower.

Waterfall pub
Oct 2019 • Solo
The waterfall pub is a venue in whi h I have visited quite often. Some of my visits have been with people and others solo. Some of my visits have been in private functions and some just in the regular bar area. Generally I order ciders, they only have your regular sort of stuff on tap really and at premium rates.. £4+. I have ordered food from here before and I have to say the food is decent, however again not cheap. The waterfall has 2 large function rooms and believe which are of an OK standard. It is a good venue for watching sports as there are many tvs in the bar area. It is a good venue for a knock of pool etc as there are many pools tables in the room behind the bar, this will set you back £1 per 15 minutes. The bar has no real smoking area however sometimes there's are some seats outside. Many better pubs for beer and atmosphere in the area.

Great visit.

My twin brother Stephen and I had just been to The Merry Widows Pub next door so decided to check out the pub adjacent and what a great find.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub all housed in a very beautiful building, it's one of three pubs grouped tightly together facing Derby Train Station.
We were here on a crisp cold but sunny Thursday afternoon in February , greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff who served us a beer each, beers were served in perfect condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in and planned out the day ahead in this compact little city.
The beer served here was really good, served freezing cold and more importantly very fresh,a totally refreshing beer that we really enjoyed in a very good pub.
We really enjoyed our beers in here and although we only stayed for the one each before we moved on for a first time visit we were very impressed with this pub.
The Waterfall Pub is easy to locate on Railway Terrace.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Thursday, 11am till 11pm.
Friday & Saturday, 10am till 11pm.
Sunday, Midday till 10.30pm.
A great pub,one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.

Splendid pub
Dec 2018 • Friends
This was the last of the three Derby train station pubs we sampled in December after meeting friends of the train. This was the best, good atmosphere, good staff with quick service and fine choice of alcohol, well worth a pint.
