This was a belated 70th birthday (January 2021) experience bought for me by my ex wife and her husband, Jan and Malcolm and my daughter Kimberley. I've always been interested in flying and have done quite a few flying experiences in the past but this one was the first Id ever flown in an open cockpit.
Malcolm and I were greeted by Paul Ford, his wife Sarah and friend/colleague Pete. We were provided with a welcome coffee having driven up from the coast of West Sussex. Paul explained everything I needed to understand in clear plain English which gave me great confidence and excitement of what was to follow. I was then kitted up in flying suit, helmet and earphone's for communication. We took off and flew into a grey/blue clear sky in a Tiger Moth G-ALNA "Muttley"
Paul communicated to me through the whole incredible flight. We did "The Dam Buster Run" and flew over all three of the dams which the RAF 617 Squadron flew over to practice their bouncing bomb run for the main attack on the three dams in Nazi Germany during WWII.
We flew over the amazing Derbyshire landscape of different colours of green fields and many main attractions were pointed out to me. Chatsworth House and grounds being one of the many, which was amazing. Paul suggested that we could do did some aerobatics if I was ok with it, he explained exactly what he intended doing which sounded amazing and I can tell you that it was out of this world amazing. All the time video footage was being recorded on the plane, which I could purchase if I so wished along with the photographs which Sarah had taken before we took off and when we landed.
This experience was by far the greatest experience I have had flying and so well organised and executed as if I was part of Paul's family. I would certainly recommend the Dam Buster experience to all no matter what flying experiences they have. You can probably tell how exciting and exhilarating I found it by the length of my review. Thank you Paul, Sarah and Pete for such a beautiful, special and unforgettable experience which I can live over and over again- yes I bought the video and photographs which I can show my family

Highly recommend this company, after several delays due to both weather and of course the dreaded lockdown I finally got airborne for a 40 minute tiger moth flight around the local area.
The staff on the ground were very interactive, friendly, welcoming and informative.. and my pilot was top notch!
Many thanks to all involved.

My wife booked The Dambuster Run for me as a birthday present and what a present it was. From the moment we arrived and were met by the font of aviation knowledge Jill who ran us through the safety and covid briefing to getting into the Tiger Moth and meeting the pilot Paul Jones was an enjoyable experience. Safety is their number one priority and to help ensure you get the most enjoyment out of your experience, from the moment I got there I felt perfectly at ease. From take off to landing Paul would point out particular sights and give lots of information on the surroundings even circling around to make sure you could see everything, pointing out the smell of coffee rising from one of the factories below. I took control of the aircraft for about 20 minutes which brought back memories of the last time I flew in a chipmunk whilst in the ATC some 40 odd years ago. The Dambusters has to be my favourite film of all time and seeing the dams that they practiced on from the air made the flight all worth while, the wind was quite strong over the water and Paul had to take us up to 1000 feet after the first dam as it was deemed too bumpy to stay at 500 feet. On the way back we were met by a Bucker Jungmann biplane whose owner had flown up to meet us flying under and over us which just added to the experience. Once we landed back at Derby airfield I was met by Jill who went through the video taken on the flight and photos she took around the aircraft. I cant thank my wife enough for this truly fantastic surprise present or the staff at Vintage Flying whose enthusiasm and professionalism made this a day to remember. If I could give this marks out of ten for enjoyment it would be eleven, I reluctantly left the airfield at the end of the day but cant wait to get the opportunity to go back.

I was bought a 30 minute tiger moth flight for my birthday and managed to take off at the third time of asking (2 cancellations for bad weather). It was absolutely amazing. The team could not have been better - Jill’s organisation was immaculate, Aurora with the photos and tech, and Andy the pilot made it a day I will remember for ever. The flying experience itself was incredible. I would recommend to everyone - I’m scared of heights but felt completely safe, even when I had control of the joystick!

An extremely good day out. The aircraft are beautiful and the pilots are knowledgeable and very experienced. I chose the Dambuster option which saw us fly over the beautiful Derbyshire countryside/Peak district.
Charlie my pilot was a mine of information about what we were flying over such as Chatsworth House, The Dams and Valleys which the famous Dambuster Squadron practiced before the raid. It is only when you are up in the sky flying the route that you really appreciate the level of skill involved in flying at 60ft over the countryside. I was at 2000 feet and it felt like I could touch the ground!
I would highly recommend this flight for anyone intrerested in the Dambusters or just looking at the beautiful countryside.

What a brilliant and enjoyable experience. I was lucky we flew on a beautifully clear day and had gorgeous views over the Derbyshire countryside. Hald an hour was just not long enough. The Tiger Moth "Mutley" was a fantastic aircraft to really experience flying in, the open cockpit really allows you to appreciate the view all around. Her pilot "Charley" was a very ex RAF and commercial pilot, very helpful and informative, keeping up a good dialogue throughout the flight. Jill had the admin and the additional Covid procedures well in hand, altogether a slick operation. This was an experience not to be missed, definitely one for the bucket list.

What a fantastic experience ! I was a lucky boy, and for my 69th birthday present got a "Dambusters Flight" over the Derwent and Ladybower dams. The staff were fantastic, Jill a calming influence after we turned up just 5 minutes before take-off after a pile-up held us up for 30 minutes on the A50. Captain Charlie McIroy (ex RAF, Red Arrows and Cathay Pacific) inspired confidence stepping into the beautifully maintained 1930`s Tiger Moth bi plane. Off we roared, the clouds parted, the sun came out, and I had the most fantastic 75 minutes over the scenic Peak District, and the famous dams where Guy Gibson VC and his pilots trained. Charlie deserved a VC giving me the controls for five minutes ! IT IS BRILLIANT. DO IT IF YOU CAN !! My Missus spent the time I was in the air talking to the very friendly owner, and all the staff, and she had a wonderful time sitting chatting to them all. A truly memorable day. Thank you Vintage Flying.

A fantastic experience for my 70th birthday.. I have to go back again soon.

Great people organising the whole experience.

I thoroughly recommend the experience from the introduction and briefing to the flight and discussions with the pilot on route to Lady Bower dams via Carsington Water and Chatsworth house.

The pilot allowed opportunities both outward and return to take control of the Tiger Moth and fly it, which was a wonderful feeling.

My family were made very welcome, with photograph opportunities at the end of the flight.

A wonderful day!

Great time here on Saturday enjoying my flight in the vintage Tiger Moth biplane. Really friendly and helpful staff including Aurora and “Squeaky” who helped me in the initial briefing, getting kitted out and with the first photo shoot next to the plane. Paul, the actual pilot, was superb. He did a great job in settling my nerves and allowing me to feel in control.
The flight itself was wonderful, just 30 minutes but plenty of time to appreciate the aura of this iconic aircraft and the elemental thrill of flying a vintage, open cockpit plane. Great views of Carsington Water and Dove Dale.
I was able to take control of the joystick for a good while and really experience the response of the plane to all the elements. Paul’s landing was superb and as smooth as any I have ever experienced.
After landing there were more opportunities for photos and the chance to buy a video of the whole flight. A really great experience in a friendly atmosphere. I would recommend this for anyone wanting a taste of what early flying would have been like. Thank you to all at Egginton for an unforgettable day.

Flew the Dams Raid route with pilot Paul, a great trip in an open cockpit Tiger. We followed 1943 Dams Raid training route, including Ladybower Reservoir. It is very humbling to realise that RAF crews flew that route in in 1943 in heavy 4-engine Lancasters, low level and AT NIGHT!

Vintage Flying people very professionally explained everything in advance and made sure everything was done safely. As a bonus I bought the live video package to replay the experience for myself and friends.
