My partner and I came for a farm trek and we loved it! Jess and Charlotte were so warm and friendly. They were really knowledgeable and passionate, it was really contagious. I didn't know much about llamas before, so now knowing about how clever they are I am in awe of them.

I absolutely loved the fact that without a doubt the respect for the animals came first. We were asked not to put our hands into their spaces when in the pens, told about their boundaries with touching them on the neck, not to hand feed them etc. That respect is clearly appreciated from the llamas because then they happily are petted when appropriate and treat you with respect.

I can't imagine the amount of work for that many llamas and yet they are kept so clean, in tidy areas with plenty of food. They all are so sociable, running up to the fence to see you as you trek'ed past them on the walk. Despite so many animals, it is clear Jess and Charlotte knew their llamas families/backgrounds/personalities /needs so well. They informed us of a male llama who was gelded to live with the females as he hadn't got on with the male herd. As well as swapping older female llamas into mother and baby herds so they could come into the warmth at night due to being more vulnerable. So it was clear they were constantly assessing their llamas changing needs and being flexible to accommodate them, to ensure that their care came first (even though it undoubtably made more work for them).

I always felt completely safe on the walk and with the llamas. The staff knew the animals well and what might be a trigger for them so that we were able to support them appropriately. They communicated all this calmly and firmly. For instance my partner and I had two llamas who were spooked by a car wheel spinning at one point. When reassurance didn't work Jess and Charlotte calmly just rearranged our llamas to the front and this completely settled them down again.

The experience itself itself was run perfectly. We could become use to being around the llamas before going out on the walk as well as learn about them. The walk was beautiful and had a few resting spots a long the way where we could ask lots of questions. Then at the end we had a delicious cake and drink (lots of options!!) whilst overlooking the llamas enjoying their well deserved rest in the fields. There were plenty of toilets and a little gift shop. There was also a welly hire area if you hadn't brought suitable footwear. Overall I just couldn't fault it at all. I would definitely recommend to any animal lovers!

I also hear they do therapy type work, so if a trek isn't suitable for yourself it might be worth getting in touch to see if there is anything they can do.

Located in the picturesque countryside near Pately Bridge you can have a wonderful experience walking with lovable llamas. The trek was professionally organised, a thorough briefing was carried out initially, to the point that we felt confident in handling the llamas.
Each llamas is different, they are really lovable characters. Our experience took approximately over 4 hours in total, walking on different terrain, so good footwear is essential..
The llamas soon get used to you walking with them, and if you follow the clear instructions of your experienced escort you can’t go far
This our second visit, and a longer one. I would highly recommend a visit, to be up close to these magical creatures is heartwarming.
Nidderdale Llamas, is so professional and well organised. Five star service from Suzanne, Beth, and Jess, could not fault our visit.

My mum bought myself my sister a half day llama trekking voucher for Christmas, and we booked it for yesterday before my sister leaves the country for a few months to study.

We were greeted by Jess who gave us an incredibly thorough and fascinating overview of the llamas and alpacas at the farm. This was in my opinion incredibly important as we actually got to learn about these interesting animals rather than just jump straight into walking them. They have their own intricacies and traits that are important to understand before interacting with them! As an animal lover, getting to meet and interact with the llamas and alpacas prior to the walk was an amazing experience and taught me a lot about how best to interact with them in a way that is comfortable for them, too.

Before we even started trekking, I was amazed at just how extensive Jess’ knowledge of llamas and alpacas is and found this super inspiring! I’m interested in learning more.

We then went on our trek with our paired llamas (myself and my sister had one each). I was paired with a beautiful boy called Lloyd who I absolutely fell in love with and was just a joy to walk. The trek was amazing fun and it was incredibly funny to watch by passers’ reactions to seeing a group of llamas walking by 🤣

Molly also joined us on our trek along with Jess and was incredibly friendly and a joy to talk to.

The refreshments and lunch were incredibly generous and the perfect addition to the day.

I have to end this review by saying that it was heartwarming to meet a group of people who cared so much for the animals they look after and put their needs first. This isn’t just about taking selfies with cute, fluffy llamas (maybe a little), but also about understanding these beautiful animals and how they work so that we can better interact with them in a way that benefits both us and them.

A huge thank you particularly to Jess for the fantastic hosting and her relentless energy - I’m inspired and in awe by her knowledge of these animals.

A fantastic day, I couldn’t recommend this experience more.

Thank you so much for such a thorough review and lovely comments in relation to your time with us. Jess certainly loves her job and its great to read that you found her knowledge to be so inspiring. Its also lovely to see that you enjoyed the structure of your visit and learning all about our amazing animals as that part of the experience. This is so important to us , so we can then make sure both humans and animals are relaxed as possible before embarking on the trek together. We are all overwhelmed with your lovely comments in relation to our dedication to our animals, so nice to read this shone through, we do work hard to make sure all our llamas and alpacas have the very best and we are all grateful to be in a privileged position of caring for them! Thank you again and your recommendations are highly appreciated!

The animals are nice. It is over priced and drawn out, becoming tiresome from their incessant talking of almost 2hours before trek even starts. The Portacabin Party Room is shambolic, cold. Once in a lifetime experience.certainly.

Thank you for taking the time to review and offer your comments. We are pleased you enjoyed our animals, but its a shame you felt the talk was tiresome. The talk (of approx. 45 min to 1 hour), is all part of the experience that we offer and explained on our information prior to booking. Our team are very dedicated to animal welfare and we are passionate about sharing our knowledge and fun facts all about the animals before the treks go out. This is for two reasons, mainly so our customers gain some insight into these amazing animals and feel at ease with them so they can fully enjoy their trek. Also we like to ensure our animals get to know the group a little, before the trek leaves, so this puts the animals at ease too. The talks are detailed, but they are fun and we have such positive feedback about them, generally customers love to learn and engage with our team and the animals before the trek leaves. I am sorry you felt the portacabin was disappointing, we have invested in the decoration and made it feel like a taste of Peru, feedback has been very positive as customers love to see all the photos and Peruvian themes it offers. However it is not constantly heated as we only require it if the weather is wet, it would be a waste of energy to have it constantly heated and we like to ensure we are environmentally friendly. We are happy for customers to use it when its wet, so at least everyone has an area where they can keep dry for their drinks and cakes after the treks, as opposed to sitting outdoors. I am sorry you felt it was cold, but I am sure you will agree it was at least dry. We will however look into improving the heat source in the portacabin. We are disappointed that you felt your experience overpriced. We have strived to keep our prices as low as possible and find we are very reasonable in comparison to other experiences. Our running costs are extensive and increasing all the time, with animal feed and veterinary bills, provision and running of the facilities and land to maintain excellent animal welfare. We also have to cover our licence fees, insurance and many other hidden costs of running a farm along with our professional skilled team of staff, therefore we can not provide the experiences and treks any cheaper. We are also vat registered so all this has to be taken into account within our prices. Thank you again for your review, we feel your star rating is harsh considering the hard work and dedication we put into running running our enterprise, but we do respond to all feedback and will continue to strive to improve.

What a fantastic day! I booked the Half Day Trek for myself and my sisters. I had done an Alpaca walk a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. My sisters were curious about what to expect, but were really enthusiastic about trying something new at the same time. We were all looked after by Jess and Charlotte. You could tell how much they care about the Llamas and Alpacas. They really know their stuff. The animals feel completely at ease with them and it was lovely to see. I was paired up with Lloyd, who is a sweetheart. He’s a lot easier than walking my dog! It was really relaxing taking in the beautiful views and chatting with the girls, who were both on hand if you had any questions. Be prepared to walk up some hills, but they’re not too strenuous. I’m not the fittest person, but I could handle them all fine. You will stop for a break halfway for refreshments. After the walk, we also enjoyed a picnic lunch back at the farm. If you want to do something different, I highly recommend booking this experience. My sisters and I absolutely loved it. Truly a soothing tonic for the soul. We would book again in a heartbreak. Thank you!

Thank you for such lovely positive comments! We are really grateful for your review and so pleased you enjoyed your trek with us during the Summer. Lloyd is a gentle sole, it made us giggle that he was easier to handle than your dog! Lovely to read that you found the experience relaxing and a tonic for the sole, we are now launching a therapy side to the centre, as llamas are just how you found Lloyd to be, truly therapeutic! Thank you for recommending us!

The Scenic Farm Trek was a fantastic birthday gift. Charlotte was our very knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic guide and Roger was our very adorable llama.

It was great to learn so much about llamas and alpacas before the walk started. The walk in the area surrounding the farm gave us a good opportunity to get to know our llama, see some of the rest of the herd and take in some great views.

Finishing with tea and cake at the picnic table watching the sun go lower in the sky, the llamas in nearby fields and the stunning scenery was a perfect way to end the experience. There was even vegan cake!

We can thoroughly recommend Nidderdale Llamas. Very good facilities on site and the communication before and on the day was clear and efficient. The llamas and alpacas were real stars; funny, incredibly soft to stroke and good, calming company.

That's really kind of you to write a 5 start review and Roger passes on his thanks too! It is lovely to read you found Charlotte to be a good guide and its sounds like you got the perfect end to your experience with the sun coming down over the valley! We are privileged to work in these beautiful surroundings. Thank you again for your positive comments and hope to see you return one day for some more llama therapy!

I booked a scenic trek as a present for my partner and paid for us to have a llama each on the trek. It last around 3 hours and was an amazing experience. After a really interesting and knowledgeable introduction from our guide Charlotte. We were paired up with the llamas and headed out on the trek. Charlotte was brilliant and made sure everyone was happy including the llamas. We both really enjoyed the trek and spending time with these brilliant and unique animals. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who loves animals and enjoys a good trek around some lovely countryside

We had a fantastic day yesterday on the half day trek through some beautiful scenery .
The staff were so knowledgeable & informative , there passion & love for all the animals shone though .
We were paired with Olly such a serious , no nonsense llama that led us on the trek ! keeping us right at every turn ,who rewarded us handsomely for trekking so well with lots of cuddles at the end . Sadly we had to say goodbye to Olly however the trek was followed by an delicious picnic with plenty of welcome hot tea .
Amazing experience , we will never forget and would thoroughly recommend .

Decided to do something different for a day out and we couldn’t have chosen better. The young ladies were both so knowledgeable about the llamas and alpacas and knew all their names and close relatives and gave us such an insight into their nature . After a very covid safe introduction in groups we were matched with our trekking companions of Ned, Tony and Zac with an insight given into their ages and personalities. We set out on the trek with our llamas in the countryside surrounding the farm with stops so they could have a snack . Again along the way Jess pointed out our llamas brothers, sisters etc in the other fields and there was even a new baby born that morning. We couldn’t believe when we arrived back from the scenic trek that we had been there 3 hours as the time with these wonderful animals had flown by and I was sad to leave my llama Ned, he had been a perfect walking partner . I cannot recommend this experience enough and we will definitely return one day to hopefully do a longer trek.

We (2 adults an 8yr old & 13 yr old) spent a lovely few hours here today getting to know all the Alpacas and Llamas and taking them on a little walk. The lady who looked after us was called Suzanne and she was very knowledgeable about all the animals and told us lots of facts, she knew the animals really well and you could tell they were all cared for. We did a family experience which lasted for about 1.5 hours, the walk itself wasn’t very long but ideal for our 8 year old. They do longer treks which may be suitable if you have older children. We met a variety of different alpacas/llamas in the barn and then Suzanne let the kids pick out which they wanted to take for a walk out of a few that were suitable. Very COVID safe throughout ( asked us to wear masks in the barn and sanitised all equipment) . Not the easiest to find so make sure you follow the directions given on their info pack rather than following the sat nav. They had a little gift shop at the end which the kids loved as they could buy a magnet with “their” llama on. Would definitely recommend
