Reasonable beer....just. but not a welcoming comfortable environment by any stretch. Not welcoming what so ever. Nasty.

Had food and drink at this public house whilst visiting our Father.
Barmaid very friendly but on our order of three meals we asked for a serving of chips extra

Problem well if you think it’s ok to put on Fathers meal and say take off of his an answer I beg to differ

Go back no

Adequate, limited menu not good enough to come back.
May 2019 • Friends
First and foremost the pub needs to update its website. The menu is very different and a lot more limited than the website suggests and not sure we would have gone there if we had known so a bit disappointed from the start.
The surroundings are ok but need a bit of a refresh, especially the grubby carpeting.
I had a tuna steak which came with new potatoes and green beans and something that was supposed to be salsa but was just chopped up tomato, peppers and a bit of onion. No chilli, no coriander or mint, and not even salt and pepper to season and it was warm, which was even less pleasant.
My friend had a 'steak and ale pie' which was in fact a steak and ale casserole with a separately cooked pastry top. Ok, it's something that a lot of pubs and restaurants do, but it isn't the same taste. The pie filling was quite tasty but not a lot of it.
Surprisingly the desserts were nice and actually tasted home-made.
Don't expect decent wine here, It comes in little bottles as you might expect in-flight or on a ferry and it is really poor quality. Maybe the beer is better.
On a nice day, you could sit in the garden and there is a play area for youngsters. Plenty of parking but the ground is very rough for wheelchairs, strollers or anyone with mobility issues and you couldn't get a wheelchair in the toilets. What I thought was a disabled loo was full of junk, and looked like it was being rebuilt.
It's the only pub in the village and no others within a few miles that did food that we could find on Google maps. Visitors to the Travelodge don't have a lot of choice for eating if they don't want to go into Peterborough but I'd still say give this a miss. You might be better getting a takeaway!

Convenient for local Travelodge
Aug 2018 • Couples
Provided with a couple of options by reception at Travelodge as only fast food close by and this met our immediate requirements for a reasonable meal. Large bar and eating area available with a limited choice menu.
Food was served reasonably quickly and was quite tasty standard British pub grub. Desserts were also good.

And all the dogs!!
Sep 2018 • Couples
After searching for dog friendly pubs in the Peterborough area this one sounded one of the best. Excellent food, happy staff, pleasant ambience and dogs allowed nearly anywhere (on theirs leads)!! We were made welcome with our three dogs and provided with water for them. Our paninis were perfectly cooked and not dry as some are, and the latte was yummy!! We will be calling regularly to this lovely friendly pub!

Evening meal
Aug 2018 • Family
We stayed over at a Travelodge and this pub was a short drive away. We had quite a wait for our food but everything was nice enough. It was open mike night so we had plenty of entertainment while we ate!! Looks like the locals find it popular. I don’t think they serve food over the weekend though.

Warm and friendly atmosphere
Aug 2017
We went in to seek shelter from the rain--not that I need much of an excuse for a pint--and were greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere from both locals and staff. Also our dog was well looked after (spoiled?) with treats and a bowl of water. All in all, an excellent service.
Unfortunately, the rain shower was too soon over so we didn't get to try the food, but I'm pretty sure as soon as we do, this four-star rating will turn into five.

Fantastic food, smooth pint
May 2017 • Couples
Although I'm not from the Peterborough area, I have had many meals here and never been disappointed by their high quality food, Angie their chef is wonderful, when ordering our food we are always met with a smile from Britney and you always feel that you have been looked after, prices are fair, drink wise my preferred brevage is guiness and I have always had a good pint here nice and smooth , bar staff are friendly and polite, locals have always greeted me with a smile or a friendly nod. The blue boar is spacious there are two large TV with sports channels, a pool table, and set to one side an area for playing darts away from the main area which makes perfect sense I'm guessing for the obvious safety reasons, I have noticed that customers here are of all ages which works well always a warm friendly atmosphere to the rear is a children's play area and a spacious car park, so if your in the area do pop in and I hope you have as enjoyable time as I have, I have always left there with the feeling that I will be back soon. Brilliant local pub
May 2017 • Friends
The blue boar is my local pub. Always go there at least once a week. Great place with lots of drinks to chose from including real ale. Got a jukebox and pool table as well as sofas and plenty of places to sit and watch the football. They often have the boxing on or big sporting events and the drink is reasonably priced. Great staff and a lovely pub.
