We called here on spec and were lucky it was open (essential to check opening hours as these are odd). Very interesting if you are a Clare fan; you will get more out of it if you like his poems. However, I'm sorry, but we...More

Moving through the cottage the visitor walks through the life of John Clare. The recorded commentary is well presnted and helped me make greater sense of what I was seeing. This was an enjoyable experience and motivated me to engage with Clare’s poetry, which I...More

Does provide a better understanding of a rural poet and also an insight of how an ordinary family existed in those times. A must for anyone studying this period.

We recently went to see the theatre company, the pantaloons perform ‘the importance of being earnest’ in the John Clare gardens. A gorgeous setting, bring your own picnic which the actors will help themselves too throughout the performance, extremely funny! Would recommended even if you...More

Usually open Friday's and Saturdays but I would phone first to check as it is run by volunteers. I went on a group booking but I would assume there is a senior concession.
