You probably know us as a lovely place for children to see the animals, run around in beautiful countryside and let off steam in our state-of-the-art play barn - but there's a lot more to Sacrewell.

With the help of £1.4 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, our 18th century water mill is being transformed into a national centre for milling excellence - take a tour and find out how your great-grandparents got their daily bread. Foodies can also join a tractor trip around the fields of our tenant farmers Riverford Organic Farms (it's on our land).

Then there's our wildlife trail, scavenger hunt and two new rambles - if you're lucky, you'll see the rare red kites and brown hares. Seasonal events range from our Lamb National to ploughing with vintage tractors. You can even meet a film star - some of our shires appeared in War Horse.

In our 50th year as a charity dedicated to agricultural education, we continue to welcome students of all ages who want to learn traditional skills and get an insight into rural life. We hope that all our visitors not only have a great day out but feel they've learned something too.

We hadn't visited Sacrewell for at least three years, my what a difference. The whole place has been cleaned and tided up from the last visit. (Much needed). The always impressive Corn Mill has been professionally renovated and is a must see while you are there. There is also a new building for children with slides climbing areas and more... More

I've a lot of affection for sacrewell but find it a little pricey. However my daughter is never bored there. Even on a slightly rainy day she loves the indoor play area.

Took my 2.5yr old who loved it mainly for the play barn and outside play areas. Was a bit disappointed with the animals. Although they had a couple of pigs and horses they were the far end of the farm. Too far for my mother to walk so she missed out seeing little ones reaction.Chickens kind of tucked away too.... We were 5 families all meeting up at a central venue for a family get together. The farm is geared up for children's day out but is also enjoyed by adults alike, the 5 children aged between 4 @ 14 all enjoyed their day feeding the animals, watching the ferret and sheep racing, went in the maze several times and... I thought this would be a good place to meet my disabled cousin and her husband, over from Australia, as our fathers spent their teens and early adulthood living at Sacrewell. Frankly it is best suited to children and I would not class it as a working farm other than that part of it leased to a real farmer. The... More

We arrived in time for a short walk before a tractor ride. The tractor ride took us around the farm and through some woods. We had light refreshments in the cafe then walked to the mill via a maze. There is something for all ages at Sacrewell. The watermill was full of informative displays - video and audio. Easy parking,... More

We spent a lovely day here today as we were offered a free visit with our Grimsthorpe Annual pass. When we arrived there was a steam fair going on which was ok but a shame that the people involved didn't seem to be having much to do with the visitors to the farm. The people on reception were polite but... More

It was a lovely little visit to sacrewell farm! The children loved it and had a great time! There is plenty for them to see and plenty to do! The staff are friendly and professional. We even went on the little train! I would advise bringing your own packed lunch as we did because the cafe is a little pricey... More

I am writing this review of Sacrewell farm as a mum of 2.5 year old twins who is looking for attractions to keep her kids entertained and herself happy. And I found both. I am usually fussy and don't write good reviews easily, but after our first visit we bought a year's pass and I have been back nearly every... More
