The River Nene has a named one distance footpath running alongside, from Northampton to the Wash. I recently walked this route and found some beautiful countryside, plenty of nature and some excellent riverside pubs.

I noticed a few people wild-camping in makeshift tents, men sitting swilling beer and leaving their cans on the ground and walking off, people smoking illegal substances. Other than that it's fine

A lovely river walk into the city is spoiled by litter, people camping out and leaving rubbish, youths smoking more than tobacco and litter bins not fit for purpose - especially when windy as they are little more than clear bin bags in a frame....More

The River nene begins at Albury Hill and continues through Northamptonshire,Cambridgeshire and Norfolk before exiting at the Wash, a total distance of 100 miles. The River Nene has many locks as well as some decent walks,we have walked the Oundle stretch,a distance of 4 miles....More
