About Ruislip Lido Railway
The Ruislip Lido Railway is a 12 inch gauge railway operated entirely by volunteers. The line runs through the woodlands skirting the lake from Woody Bay Station beside the beach, all the way round to Willow Lawn Station which is close to the car park. Here you can watch the loco being turned on the turntable ready for the return journey. The two and a half mile round trip on Britain's longest 12 inch gauge railway takes about 35 minutes. PLEASE NOTE - This TripAdvisor page is for the railway at the Lido. The Lido itself is maintained and operated by the local council.

We visited Ruislip Lido Railway for one of the Christmas Specials. Our kids had a great time and across many interactions with the volunteer staff it was clear they were all working very hard to ensure all the visitors that day had a great time.

Wonderful visit on the Santa Special, such lovely volunteers who run this and made it so special for my train loving son. Would definitely recommend and go again next time. The attention to detail and lovely present bag from Santa was just so nice. Thank you 😊

Perfect first train ride for my little nephew who has never been on a train at all until today! Very straightforward process from buying the ticket, lining up to board the train, boarding and getting off at the other side of the lake. Loved it! Thank you to all the friendly volunteers who make it all possible; we'll be back very soon.

Wonderful local lido with impressive lake full of wildlife, great walks, a model railway, 2 cafes and a restaurant. An artificial beach tops it off with good playground and climbing pirate ship for kids. Very busy in summer - don't park up Ducks Hill Road though unless you want to make the traffic warden's day...

Response from Chris L, Director at Ruislip Lido Railway
Responded Feb 12, 2020
Hi Dollie, Our fares we feel are very good value - obviously there will be differences of opinion from person to person, but it is very, very rare that we receive any negative comments in regards to the ticket prices. Considering our yearly passenger numbers, all of whom purchase a ticket from one of our ticket offices (and therefore we can gather the general feeling and any feedback) is reassuring for us that we are pitching at the right level. We feel the fares are particularly good value, especially considering that there have been only 2 or 3 very, very minor rises over the last 15 years. Hopefully see you for a ride soon. Thanks, Chris.
