Guide was excellent so knowledge and passionate about the history of the area. It is very interesting to hear the decades of history. Goes back to paleolithic history. "By Hook or by Crook" you should do this tour.

A friend recommended Duncannon Fort, knowing my interest in history, and it did not disappoint. Duncannon itself is a lovely seaside village but the Fort is barely visible from the town. I found it a fascinating place and our guide Paul was superb and really brought it to life. If you’re interested in Irish history this is a real hidden gem.

Browsing through trip advisor we stumbled across this attraction, turned out to be a great find. Wonderful site and very informative guide. Without a doubt the guide made all the difference, spoke about the site and its history with such genuine interest it was a pleasure to listen. Wonderful site, hopefully some money gets pumped into it so it can become a popular tourist site, because it 100% deserves the recognition.

We were given a tour by Paul who gave us an interesting overview of the history of the fort through the years. Paul told us lots about the fort’s defensive features and history and answered all of our questions. Absolutely amazing views from the fort and is well worth a visit!

Had the chance to visit Duncannon fort while camping in Roches campsite a short few miles away. Really enjoyed the visit a fascinating glimpse into our past, this fort covers hundreds of years and only a few years ago was decommissioned by the Defence forces.
Really enjoyed it and would highly recommend a visit call into the local tourist office or book online.
Thanks to our guide John he gave us a great tour and was really interested and knowledgeable about the history.

We showed up in Duncannon looking to tour the Bastian Fort that is located there. We arrived after the 3:00 PM tour start time, but Rob was happy to take us on the tour anyway.
Rob was so knowledgeable about the fort and the history around the fort that it was one of the most informative tours we have ever taken. Loved hearing so many stories about the construction of the fort, why a Bastian fort was so important & effective, benefits of a dry moat, battles fought, and how important the fort was to Ireland and Europe as a whole. He also shared that the Vikings were the first invaders that turned the map of Ireland so West was at the top (In the North position), which made it obvious why they were so focused on being in Ireland. It was literally the gateway to northern Europe, Interesting... Rob's knowledge, professionalism and storytelling were so impressive. Outstanding tour! Thank you!

Visit the fort during our summer stay cation August 2021. We were given to date the best ever tour (informative, detailed, and enthusiastic ) by Ann . So much i didn't know from before the Vikings and the Norman's right up to WWII and much more. Its great to see a community so vested in the history of the Fort and its future.

Myself and my family had a great visit to Duncannon Fort. The tour guide Susan was the highlight of the tour. She was witty, engaging and knowledgeable and made it a memorable visit to Duncannon for all the holiday makers on the tour. The tour operated safely outdoors in compliance with all Covid guidelines and social distancing.

The tour of Duncannon Fort is a highlight of any visit to this lovely village. Our guide Susan gave a detail filled description of the fort's really interesting history and the surrounding area, which was both enjoyable and informative. The fort also has some great views of the estuary and Susan made sure to point out the best spots to take lovely photos. Well done to all involved and sorry to hear the tour is not available all year round.

A group of 8 from the Dublin Motorcycle Touring were camping nearby and we visited the Duncannon Fort on Friday last.
We enjoyed a pleasant 45 minutes been shown around the Fort by Susan, she was very informative and also engaged well with some children who were part of the tour group.
Grear history with spectacular veiws across the bay to the Hook lighthouse.
Its well worth a visit.
Stephen.

Thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately I'm back home now - I'll need to wait for my next visit to the sunny south east! Every good wish for the remainder of the season.

Thanks for the feedback folks much appreciated
Great tour , excellent guide, why no concession for seniors , must be one of a few attractions that do not have a concession for seniors.

Is it disabled accessible

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding (something went wrong with my notificaitons). As it's a 16 Century building parts are not accessible. For visitors with mobility issues we bring them and their group up separately from the main tour, show them what we can and then let the group decide how much of the €5 charge per adult they would like to pay. We are just open for tours until the 28th August daily, the Fort will then close for the winter. Many thanks, Mary.
