The displays were excellent, the upper rooms were laid out in period style and had some intriguing curios. Staff were "in character" for the tour and, rather than turning the tour into something cringey, it genuinely added to the experience.

The palace is well cared for and the staff is incredibly friendly. All of the exhibits are interesting and they take you through Irish history in a way that doesn't bore you to death.

A very interesting museum to see , makes me realise how difficult the past life is . Also went to Medieval Museum nearby , another very interesting museum , great for those who likes to know about the history of Kings and Queens of England ... A must to do on visit list if you are going to Waterford .

The costumed guides make the viewing of the Palace so authentic. a genuine look into the past. The detail in all the rooms was fantastic. Beautiful colour schemes too.

The Bishop's Palace contains some beautiful furniture, paintings, and silver shown during very good tours by costumed guides.

The palace itself is okay just for looking and following along yourself. What makes the experience amazing is that the tours (starting on the hour, about 45 minutes in total) are done by character actors who take their roles very seriously and are hilarious. Definitely do the tour, and you will enjoy it much more.

This was really good! Not only do you get to see a well preserved house/palace but it is well furnished with material from the time and you get a sense of the life enjoyed by the well-to-do of Waterford society. That would be sufficient in itself and worth the entrance fee but on the upper floor is a series of... More

I was not sure what this palace should be like and I was surprised what a wonderful place this was. I love the guided tour by the two people dressed in costume. The tour was very informative and the rooms were filled with many historical pieces. I recommend this place for anyone wanting to see a little history and some... More

Good afternoon Jean What a wonderful review, the team at the palace here really appreciate your comments. The re-enactor led guided tours are the best way to see and hear all about the beautiful Georgian Bishop's Palace, they have lots of stories to tell of times gone by during the Georgian period of Waterford's history. Its great that you have... More

We visited here as part of our visit to the cathedral. It is a lovely Georgian building, the tour is interesting with a lady playing a character from the period. Particularly interesting was the exhibit on the top floor about the history of Ireland. Well worth a visit.

Good afternoon Stephen, Thank you for paying us a visit while in Waterford and that you enjoyed your tour. Waterford city boasts the finest collection of 18th century architecture of any city in Ireland outside of Dublin. The Palace was constructed in 1741 by the architect Richard Castles. The tour in the Bishop's Palace is unique in that it is... More
