Enchanting Escape

The forest part is a beautiful enchanting place surrounding its entrants in a canopy of leaves. The climb to the top of the rock is slightly steep but well worth it.

Beautiful walk just outside of Sligo. An enjoyable hike. Not strenuous at all just watch your footing on the roots and rocks. Overlooking the lake and mountains in the background, very enjoyable.

Dooney Rock is a lovely starting location for paddling out onto Lough Gill. A sheltered cove allows easy launching. The rock itself is perfect for walking and exploring nature. It's so accessible I've enjoyed several visits with friends and family. In spring it's a perfect place to gather wild garlic, or better still, paddle to Beezie's island for pure and... More

Fantastic for short forest walks. The whole round takes about 40 minutes. Stunning view of Lough Gill. Only a small car park on site, but the place is never really crowded.

Super nice and peaceful park. Not too many people go there, which makes it even more peaceful. Nice place to go and hang out if you want some quiet alone time.

I arrived to an empty car park and had a pleasant walk along the lake. The views over Lough Gill from Dooney Rock are great on a nice day. I spent about 40 mins in total here and would visit again when in the area.

It says that the walks around it should take 1 hr but honestly it won't take that long at all. It is however lovely and the views over Lough Gill are fab.

A regular haunt of ours as a family, the kids love it. Lovely lakeside walk. You can follow the path and climb to the top of Dooney Rock and look out over Lough Gill. It's very well sheltered so even on a rainy day you can visit without getting too wet. There are picnic benches at the car park.

Dooney Rock is an interesting place to visit and get away from the world. The walk around the lake is unspoiled and the area in overall untouched.
