A surprisingly wonderful tour visit, steeped in history, part home, part estate, part museum. I highly recommend this stop when visiting the Drumcliff area of Ireland. Historical characters and references are so interesting in a spectacular setting on Galway Bay. Step back in time with this stop.

Many Irish people will know the recent history of Lissadell and the State's shameful abandonment of a project in which it should have been a key player. With this in mind we locals may be more tolerant of its modest shortcomings. It's hard to imagine...More

We had a fantastic tour of the house but not because the house itself is impressive or well restored. Rather because the story of the Gore-Booth family is fascinating and is told soooo well by Paul the tour guide. He absolutely made this trip, he...More

Lissadell is a remarkable story and our guide attempted to do an over complex history in less than an hour. Tourists with limited English were lost. I enjoyed it but the whole place seemed badly managed and the cafe was terrible - we all felt...More

This is a house full of history, not only of the Gore-Booth family, but also of the Republic of Ireland. It is also architecturally interesting inside, although dull on the outside. There are so many gems to peruse however that the 45 minute tour is...More

I appreciate that everything about Lisadell is privately funded & it's a great pity that government does not contribute, or certainly not enough, to this wonderful part of Irish heritage. The guided tour was given by a friendly and enthusiastic individual but was far too...More

Regrettably the Irish State had no interest in saving this estate or making it available to the public but thankfully it has now been given a new lease of life by a private family. At €14 per visit to gardens, exhibitions and guided tour I...More

Absolutely beautiful ground and views. A wealth of Irish history, especially of Irish women and how they contributed to the Irish Free State. A must see ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unfortunately the house is not wheelchair friendly because of the fact that it is old. The coach house where the cafe is situated is accessible though some of the museum/exhibition area is not (so far as I recall).
