I read the reviews that this was the best joy chocolate ever. Well no, I can honestly tell you it’s NOT the best hot chocolate ever! For a chocolate shop, it was very milky and the chocolate was not very strong. They offer ‘an extra shot’ or chocolate. But when I asked ‘is the extra shot needed’ the lady suggested that it is chocolatey enough. Well….it’s not…it’s very weak.

Also, the premises has moved so whilst we were hoping to have a warm drink inside, they now only cater for takeaway. There’s one table outside but it was raining so that was a no go.

Visited this 'little piece of chocolate heaven' today based on strong recommendations.
According to the sign on the door, they open till 6pm. We arrived at 5.30 and sat down at a table. Server saw us come in, take a seat, cleared the table in front of us. After a few words in her ear by someone behind the counter , then came over and told us that they had finished taking orders at 5.30 even though it's states on the door that they close at 6pm . It's not like we were looking for a 4 course meal. We were just going to order drinking chocolate and pastries.
What a load of nonsense and bang in the middle of the tourist season.
Either the manager/owner is tourist weary or was trying to get off early for an important personal event but that response is simply not acceptable 1/2 hour before closing time. There are plenty
of places in Westport to part with my money and that will not be one of them

In my week in Westport, traveling with my best friend and her family, we went into Marlene's Chocolate Haven frequently for the delicious hot chocolate. It was very different then any I have ever had before, much better! The cups were lined with chocolate that melted in the steamed milk. Beyond just having wonderful hot chocolate and other sweets (chocolate easter eggs!!!) it was also a very nice place to sit for a bit after looking into all the quaint Westport shops.

Marlene's is known for it's delicious hand crafted chocolates and delightful, unique hot chocolate, but they also serve a fine selection of cakes and scones to enjoy with your tea, coffe or hot chocolate. I am especially fond of her currant scones- perfectly golden brown, moist and full of currants, topped with Irish butter and jam. A wonderful treat to enjoy with your hot beverage. A great place to take a break in Westport.

This is one of my must visits on any trip to Westport and I am never let down. The hot chocolate is beyond description, absolutely gorgeous and never bettered. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere, a mixture of tourists and locals. Welcome is always warm. The homemade chocolates are obviously fabulous but the lovely surprise is the selection of homemade cakes. Delicious!

The tucked away location makes you feel like you've found a hidden gem, which you have!

Must must must visit, whether you're a chocoholic or not. There's something for everyone!

Wow ! If you are in Westport, County Mayo, you must visit Marlene's Chocolate Haven!
Don't walk- run !!

Marlene's chocolates and pastries are the best I have ever indulged in~

I am a school teacher and try to make it over to Ireland once a year during our April vacation.
It is cool enough that time of the year to bring some samples back to the US.
I brought some back this last trip for each one of my students. One thing that holds true with children is: They are honest! We had a little "Tea Time" when we reconvened at school. They, themselves, were melting in their seats ~

I video taped them to hear their reviews. I wish I could share but am unable to do so legally-
You'll have to take my word. They were so adorable ! They desperately want to meet the Chocolate Queen: Marlene

My revelation was an experience with tea. I am a coffee lover and have never cared for tea.
I am 53 years old and have tried different types but could never embrace it.
On this past trip, I had some tea with a pastry @ Marlene's Shop and could not believe how wonderful and relaxing it was to sip this tea. Why now? I am not questioning it. I have not had one cup of coffee since I have returned to the States. It was quite a revelation for me!
I drink it all the time now- of course I buy "Irish Breakfast Tea."

Don't miss out on an experience of a lifetime at Marlene's Shop. You will also love the atmosphere. I believe it is a family business and everyone is so kind/accomodating.
You are surely going to walk out with a smile and a taste to savor forever :)
For now- I just have to dream about the shop until my next visit.

The chocolates must be great- I bought some back as presents for friends and family and no-one offered me one.

Lovely little chocolate / tearooms in the heart of westport.

Coffee was the best in Westport and my partner assures me that the hot chocolate (complete with melting marshmallow) was the best anywhere.

If you're looking for a break from touring Westport town and a quick coffee and cake - then this is the place to go.

The home made chocolates are also very good and the staff very friendly and welcoming.

Went to Marlene's for a quick cup of coffee during our day shopping in Westport. I get that coffee should be hot, unfortunately the coffee is served so hot that I couldn't drink it. I guess I had to give it fifteen minutes to cool down before I could take a sip without burning myself.

It's an ok spot for a cuppa. Kind of hidden away so it's nice for a quiet cuppa. But the coffee making could be improved I think.

Do not miss a chance to taste the delicious hot chocolate that Marlene's Chocolate Haven has to offer! Stop here for a relaxing break after wandering the busy streets of Westport. I find myself craving Marlene's hot cocoa and mint truffles on a regular basis and can't wait to return!
