We brought our own bikes to do some cycling on the greenway. This was a really great day out and highly recommend. We did the cycle from Westport to Newport(11km) as we were staying in Westport. The scenery is amazing and the road really good...More

After riding our bikes along N59 and R335 in western Ireland, we were grateful to hop on the Greenway in Westport and ride to Newport. This path is smooth, shaded in many spots, clearly marked for pedestrians and cyclists, and dotted with marked crosswalks at...More

We rode bikes from Achill Island down to Westport along the greenway and it was amazing! I would recommend going in the direction from Achill to Westport as it is mostly downhill and a lovely ride. We used Clew Bay Bike Hire in Westport and...More

Really enjoyed our ride along the greenway. Had a shuttle drop us to Achill and then rode back to Westport stopping along the way at a cafe for tea and then in Newport for lunch. If I was to do it again I would drop...More

We hired our bikes in Westport and took the provided shuttle bus to Achill where we picked up the bikes. The cycle/walk path follows part of an old railway line, but there are a few diversions en route around private properties. The journey from Achill,...More

Wow -- what a wonderful surprise. The scenery was stunning, the path was quite doable for an out-of-shape 54 year-old (OK, I walked the odd short bit) and the G and T half way through at a Mulranny pub was perfect. SO recommend.

Really beautiful ride -- the section from Achill Sound to Mulranny. Easy to rent a bike at hotel at bridge and drop it off in Mulranny. A little taxing ride; OK for folks in reasonably good shape.

Nice cycle path through fields and forest. I did the part between Westport. Later I went to the lakes north of Westport (lake furnace and lough fioch), where I left the Greenway. As far as I remember there was no motorised traffic except for the...More

We walked from Westport on the Newport path. Lovely countryside. Tarmac path well signposted. The beginning of the walk was off the main road so ask for directions in advance. Enjoy

It's a good two hour cycle. You have many opportunities to break up the journey which you should plan on doing. My I suggest Mulranny Park Hotel, Navin's of Tiernaur, the Blue Bicycle in Newport. Enjoy your trip!
