We arrived at Louisburgh Harbour and were greeted by Brian he was very helpful and made us feel at home. The weather was kind so the boat trip was smooth and the milk delivery did not get a chance to turn to butter. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is advisable to book before you arrive.

We arrived too early to book into our Hotel so we drove along The Wild Atlantic Way and came across the tiny pier where O'Malleys ferry took us to the bijou island of Clare. One time haven for Grace O'Malley, a middle ages Pirate Queen, we really enjoyed the peaceful location prior to returning to Westport. Lovely surprise, thoroughly recommended... More

We went over on a wet and windy day. A real adventure and a great place to experience the West Coast of Ireland in reality.

some boats are faster than others but there are plenty. I advise that for the trip out you aim for the fast boat as it is exciting and glamorous; matters less on the way home when we had the slower one as we were tired and no longer taking photos by then!

I booked by phone and email from uk with Brian O'Grady for our family of 27 to make a day trip to Clare Island. We turned up to see our party name on the booking cabin door. No hitches and a most enjoyable day.

Great company and very helpful getting us, too many bags and just the one dog across and back from Roonagh to Clare Island - only thing is you can't rely on their published timetables exactly - if something gets in the way, like a wedding party or needing to get supplies to the island that day then times will change... Planned a day to Clare Island..used the fast ferry which isn't much bigger than a small fishing vessel but great fun to ride over the sea...there is a bigger slower boat..get the fast one. Not a lot on the island but it is what it is...Nice different experience

The ferry to Clare Island leaves several times a day from Roonagh Quay, just a few kilometers west of Louisburgh. We found the ferry service to be efficient, friendly and well-run. Time spent hiking on Clare Island was delightful and the trip across and back most enjoyable. Just be aware that scheduling is limited; if you take the 11:00 a.m.... More

We took the ferry with our bikes to take part in the Clare Island Adventure Race. The lovely men who work on the ferry helped us on and off with our bikes which was very much appreciated.
