I always bring my US visitors to St. Peter's Church. It is a beautiful church in the centre of Drogheda. Oliver Plunkett's head (a 17th-century Irish martyr) resides in a shine in the church - worth a visit and a great historical asset.

Whilst in Drogheda called in for a visit. The inside was amazing. It had on display the head of St Oliver Plunketts, the door of Newgate prison cell where he was kept and a relic of the true cross. A must see if you are in the area

Even though I am not Catholic I love to come to this church as I can pray, I can find my peace and I can lit a candle for people I love and I know God hears my prayers. Such a peaceful place. I was sas when was closed during the pandemic restrictions.

We were on a day trip in Drogheda and while the others were shopping we went off exploring the town. St Patrick's church is in the center of town and cannot be missed with the spectacular spire to help locate it. The church is lovely and a beautiful building. The interior, like most churches is very relaxed and a respectful, ambient athmosphere. Myself and my son, neither strong practising Catholics felt quite comfortable there. The bone relics, head of St. Oliver Plunkett and the door of his prison cell are very interesting albeit a bit macabre. The exhibits are very well explained and the story is detailed in exhibits. There is also a relic of the true cross which is quite interesting. My son was intrigued as to my explanation of the importance of the relics to the Catholic faith. This church is a fantastic building and the relics may give some insight into religious belief. There is no charge but I gave a donation and light a few candles for the dead people I know. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.
