A must for the weary traveller, offering quality porter, beers, ales, lagers, one to suit all tastes. Cosy, warm atmosphere, friendly staff, run by Paul, a friendly, homely spot, a buzz place to be. Offers homemade food, when they say doorstep sandwiches they mean Doorsteps.

Everything a pub should be. Music, fire and good drinks. Lovely singing too. Great place to get out of the rain any afternoon.

Great pub across from Smithwick's Brewery. Friendly staff, nice pints and live music. One of my favorites in Kilkenny.

We came here because our host from the B&B where we stayed recommended it. It was the best evening we had during our 1 week in Ireland. At 9.30pm about 13 locals started to play their instruments to play traditional irish music. Just beautiful! It felt like beeing in a different world! If you stay in Kilkenny, come here and... More

Frequent this little gem now and again when looking for a relaxing few hours. Atmosphere is second to none. Old world charm with modern service. Food is simple and tasty, Murphys is best outside Cork!! Staff are always friendly and in great form. A well run pub oozing charm.

What is not to like about this pub.... It has been around since forever, it serves a quite exceptional pint of Guinness, the wit of the staff adds to the 'traditional' experience, and time it right you'll have a band of merry musicians play real genuine trad' music to really complete the experience. There are lots of trendy and gimmicky... More

We originally planned to have a relaxed evening with one or two pints but ended up in this amazing bar. The highlight of our trip, natives performed old traditional Irish music. If you want to get in touch with Ireland at it's best go and visit the bar on Monday night. It is unspoiled and you can enjoy the openness... More

Great pub. Very good location just across from the Gate Theatre. Great for pre-theatre drinks or at half- time. Very traditional quiet but also has live music. Nice intimate music venue at rear.

Cleere's is always part of the Subtitle festival, one of the venues. So that's one reason we do spend time there during that event. It is great pub and fire's do add character of it. during day time it's nice and quiet, but never empty. Little cinema on the back of it, is my favorite during subtitle, I wish I... More
