Awesome pub with interesting history. Bangers and mash are amazing. A pint of the relatively new Witches Brew is spot on in the Irish brewing favorites, perfectly balanced between a stout and a lager. A must have experience ehile in or around Kilkenny.

What a great place. First, we had dinner upstairs. The food was great and the atmosphere was very nice. Then, we went down to the garden bar to listen to some fantastic traditional Irish music. Downstairs was packed and it was hard to get a seat, but it was well worth it. It is obvious why it was so crowded.

The lesson in playing the Bodhran was an enjoyable evening. Even the most reluctant participants found themselves swept up in the excitement.

It was absolutely awful. Visited here with our daughters and grandsons on a Sunday out. No problem with the staff they were friendly and efficient. The food was terrible. Ordered cajun chickens pannins which were soggy the chicken was boiled and tough as for cajun some kind of sauce was thrown over them not cajun. Chips were frozen and some not edible. 2 of us had the roast said it was nice but for the price charged it could've been a bigger portion. Will definitely not recommend or be returning, I'd say it's only the friendly staff that people go in for so kudos to them.

Kyteler's have discovered a gold mine in showcasing the "Bodhran Experience". Helen McLouglin is a traditional drum (bodhran) performer and teacher who offers a highly entertaining "hands on" experience for tourists from all over the world. It was a blast! Everyone was encouraged to join the circle and discover rhythmic talent that we never knew we had. Helen's guidance, community building and great sense of humour helped to create a most enjoyable evening. The Beamish and great pub food helped, too!

We came here just for a few beers and live music, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the food. However, the music was great and the atmosphere lively and fun. It was a bit crowded later in the night, so if you prefer a seat, get there early!

Slow and ignorant bar tenders, food was average but atmosphere poor. Pretentious little spot that needs a make over and new management.

I brought some visitors from Europe here recently and whereas the historic architectural setting of the cellar was to be welcomed and appreciated it was somewhat deminished by the presence of a TV showing a football match with the sound quite loud. The food was extremely poor and the impression was that it was shovelled out to the unsuspecting diners from a kitchen that neither had any creativity or concern for what was being served. The vegetables were horrible - the cheapest you could get,- carrots and turnips, neither of which I can stomach. The food came so quickly that it simply must have been waiting under some heating lamps, and wasn't very good.
Next time we'll eat somewhere else.

My wife and I and another couple visited while walking aroins town. We had just visited a locla castle and were ready for a good meal and a Guiness. This building has an interesting history of its own that is detailed on the menus. You can even get a picture with a statue of the original proprietor before you leave! How cool is that?
I had the fish and chips and was pleased with the size of the piece which was laid on a good sized pile of chips. A small bowl of mushy peas comes with the meal. The service was speedy and attentive. We did not wait long for a server and drinks. Actually, one server got to us early and another came up not knowing we had already been served.
All four of us enjoyed our meals and my wife had some left over to take with us. Be sure to roam around the premises a bit and take in the cool old building sites. Knowing the bit of history about Ms. Kyteler makes it all that much more intersting and enjoyable!
