The effort to reach this site was worthwhile. So poorly signposted that we wondered if somehow we might be in the wrong area but eventually GPS worked. We passed by in each direction a few times until we decided to investigate a narrow gap in...More

The High Cross at Moone is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. It is one of the two highest stone crosses in Ireland and is an amazing thing to find tucked away in such an isolated rural setting. There are display boards inside the abbey church...More

This is the tallest High Cross in Ireland with remarkably detailed images which are explained on accompanying panels. It is off the beaten track, but well worth finding.

This is a great experience finding your way along the winding roads and beautiful rolling hills of Kildare to get to Moone. It really is a joy to behold - so much detail. Even though it's great that they have moved the cross into the...More

Beautifully located beside an old graveyard the High Moone Cross gives you goose pimples at first sight. You really can feel the history of this cross by touching it.

As with some other reviewers, it took a bit of searching for us to locate the site. The cross is well-restored and the information boards at the exhibit are well done. Some interesting old headstones are located next to ruins.
