The bridge and its surroundings are worth the visit. The path leading there is easy to miss. The surroundings are very serene and it feels like you're far away from civilization. Close by is a tea house which has tasty pastries and a beautiful view of the lake to offer

When you are anywhere near Dinnis Cottage on the Muckross Lake loop walk, this slight diversion off route to the Old Weir bridge is worth it, particulary after a period of heavy rain. The bridge is signposted near Dinnis cottage and is a 5 minute walk for the sure footed (add another 5 minutes if you are nervous on rough ground). When you get to the bridge, for a great photo shot, make your way carefully a few feet down to the river bank where there is a wonderful view through both arches of the bridge. When the light is good, a perfect spot for a good photo, or a picnic. Most of the time you can have this magical little place all to yourself

Old Weir Bridge is located close to the Dinis Cottage and Tea House, off of the Kerry Ring, about 2 km south of Torc Waterfall. You will see signs for the Old Weir Bridge and Dinis Cottage and there will be a small parking lot where you can park.
From the parking lot you must go on foot for about 30-45 min on a paved road, and follow the signs for the old weir bridge. At some point you will have to go off of the main paved road and through the forest. This part of the hike is not difficult or long (maybe 10 min) and you will reach the stream and here lies the bridge. It is a two arch old stone bridge, beautifully preserved, and a clear stream running through it.
One of the highlights of Killarney National Park, and we had the entire place to ourselves!

This is a very picturesque site is one of Killarney's oldest structures. It's a double arch bridge. The Gap of Dunloe day trip winds up with open dory-style boats going under it. If there's not enough rain to keep the water high enough, passengers have to disembark so the boatman can pole the dory-boat through the rapids and then the passengers can board again. The site is known as the "Meeting of the Waters" as the three lakes of Killarney meet there. It is located within the boundaries of the Killarney National Park which was Ireland's very first national park. It was created in 1932 when the Muckross Estate was donated to the Irish Free State. With that take-over, many years later the structure was salvaged as it was in dire need of restoration and the magnificent grounds were preserved, never to be developed. I highly recommend you travel the few miles out of the Killarney Town Center toward Kenmare to enjoy a visit to Muckross on the south side of the road and the Muckross Traditional Farm on the north side of the road. There's a reasonable fee to go through the house but costs nothing to walk the grounds and view the gardens and, in the 2nd week of June, the magnificently blooming rhododendrons, some of which are the size of a house. While you're out there, Torc Waterfall is nearby and worth the short hike to see it.. Thanks to multiple donations of land to the Irish Free State, the park now has about 30,000 acres.

Dinis Cottage is well signposted but this has only one signpost off the track, which is easily missed. Good photo opportunity, expecially on a clear day.

the Old Weir Bridge is a beautiful old twin-arch stone bridge located at the "meeting of the waters". the bridge can be approached by small boat or on trails that run from nearby Dini's cottage. A bit of history to find if you are in the area.

So quiet and serene - nice walk through the woods to see this old bridge up close. We stopped by after lunch at Dinis Cottage which was quite yummy. They have built some walking timbers to help you over the slippery areas.
