We drove through Molls Gap from Killarney. Its a stunner of a drive as you ascend along winding roads. The views are amazing, one of the nicest I can remember passing in a long time. Just after you pass through you can stop at Ladies View lookout point and there is a nice cafe at the top- the Avoca cafe were the scones are great. excellent cycling route if you like hills <3

We were in the area today, the rain was being driven by the wind, hard to stand up at times, it was a classic day, nature At it’s best..The views from there are superb. Loved it , well worth stopping and taking it in at the shop there.
Apparently the name comes from a lady called Moll Kissane who ran a pub in the area in 1820.
The workers loved her special brew Potato Whisky.
Descendants of Moll still live in the area today , great bit of history

We had been driving the Road of Kerry for nearly 5 hours and were eager to return to our B&B near Muckross House. The owner of our B&B had suggested this shortcut in case we got tired driving. We found it to be scenic and secluded. Quite beautiful in parts. I wouldn't recommend it as a destination in itself, but it served our purposes well as a shortcut while driving the Ring of Kerry.

The whole of the Ring of Kerry is amazing, the stop is on the Ring itself so easy to get to. Had we gone around from Kilarney clockwise, we may have been more impressed, but there are other more stunning stops around. Still - not a bad stop, though Ladies View is much more impressive (and right around the corner). Like any natural view, it will all look different depending on the weather - we were lucky not to have any rain or mist - it would be best to try to plan your trip around the weather, though February was amazing as there weren't many people around (just how I like it!).

Moll's Gap is a mountain road between Killarney and Kenmare. The road is narrow, but well-marked. There are spectacular views of the valley scenery below. There are several viewing points.

Tip: Be alert to coaches and cyclists in the middle of all roads.

Attempted this drive the first day with renting a car and driving on the left side of the road. Heavy traffic, sheep, and a narrow road made this a challenge! Beautiful panoramic views filled with pasturelands. Loved all the sheep and cows. Avoca at Moll's Gap offers a great shopping experience and a delightful café on the 2nd floor offers fantastic views with fresh food offerings. Fantastic on a sunny day.

We were driving anti-clockwise around the ring of Kerry and after a stop in Kenmare drove up to Moll's gap. The road was relatively wide so there were no problems driving it and it was also fairly quiet on a late afternoon in the summer, which helped. With clear, sunny weather the views were extensive and we made several stops to take photos and enjoy the scenery. From the top of the pass we then took a round-about route to Caherciveen. This was spectacular, through wild and isolated countryside on a road which was very narrow for a lot of its length and steep in places. Must be somewhere else to write about this adventure!

This place was advertised as something to see. Well, besides a short narrow opening between the mountain at the top and the store, there is really not much to see here that you can't see anywhere else along the Ring of Kerry loop.

Still trying to understand how Moll's Gap gets this much attention...

The view was okay, you can get this view many other places around the island. Not much else to say about this. It is along the roadway.

Just south of the Killarney National Park, you can stop at the Moll's Gap viewpoint to get some nice views. It's worth stopping if you're driving along here anyway, but the views from the Ladies' View viewpoint just a little farther up (in the Killarney National Park) are much nicer.
