- Jim SLimerick, Ireland276 contributionsA must visit attractionFabulous waterfall located within a few minutes walk of car parking. Beautiful views along the way. Mountain hikes past the waterfall as well, as this is the head of Torc Mountain which is also beautiful.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 25, 2024
- super_tripodCork, Ireland58 contributionsCute WaterfallWaterfall is cute in itself, but its the walks around it that I love. Just go up left of the falls, it can get a bit steep as you go up, keep following the coloured signs for different level of walks. Its a stunning area and great place to spend a few hours.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 21, 2024
- Elizabeth OYeppoon, Australia96 contributionsBeauty at its bestShort stroll with stream views along the way. Falls are raw in nature. The national park is gorgeous. The walk is gentle if just going to the falls & not the surrounding park for bush walking/hiking.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 3, 2024
- TengieneBalbriggan, Ireland4,085 contributionsSmall waterfallJust be prepared that it's crowded and there's not a lot of room to stay and see longer. Another must see attraction in Killarney National Park. The 110 meter long waterfall is surrounded by stunning forest scenery. Tork Falls, located at the foot of Torq Mountain, is formed by the Owengarriff River and flows from Corry Devil's Punchbowl Lake on Mount Mangerton. This is one of the most popular places in Ireland, so if you find yourself without a crowd, you should take the opportunity to go for a swim, and why not? After all, this waterfall in County Kerry is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Ireland to swim in.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 5, 2024
- Thomasina BNewport, United Kingdom5 contributionsBeautiful falls!Beautiful falls. 5 mins easy walk from the bottom car park. Loads of photo opportunities. Don't bother to walk to the top, unless you need a hike! The view from the top is very disappointing! Free car park too! It gets busy so I recommend arriving by 10:30.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 19, 2024
- Tom Carter704 contributionsNice hikeThe hike to the waterfall was really nice, the waterfall by it self is “okay” if you mange to get a good spot. Even with bad weather it is quite full. Continue up hill and you will encounter less crowds. All in all still a worthy destination.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 2, 2024
- ksufan88Wichita, Kansas7,034 contributionsEasy hike to the waterfallThis waterfall was easy to reach after a short walk along a fairly smooth path with a gradual incline going up to the falls. The falls themselves had a good amount of flow with many different cascades down the hillside. We arrived shortly after 9 AM and were able to find parking, but I can see how this small parking lot could fill up quickly a bit later in the day.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 23, 2024
- AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain24,073 contributionsVery beautiful waterfall and the walk into the forestTorc Waterfall is located in Killarney National Park, in Western Ireland. You can arrive here after a little hike into the forest. In fact, this is a very nice walk and the waterfall is also very beautiful. It is one of the sightseeing points in the National Park, and you can arrive here, if you follow the Kerry Ring Road. Very beautiful.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 27, 2024

There are public toilets in the lower parking area. The hike is moderate going back up. There’s a lot of stairsVisited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2024

Gorgeous flowing waterfall. Our taxi driver told us that it’s not the biggest waterfall, but it’s a waterfall (I think he was underselling it just a tad). You could hike or as go to the parking lot and take a short walk to the waterfall. It’s free to enter and dogs are allowed. It was snowing when we went (which we were told multiple times was an anomaly) but we were able to take a taxi from the city center and then head in from the parking lot. We had no cell service here so I would recommend downloading a map of the area beforehand. There is a road that also leads to Muckross House that’s about a 20-30 minute walk. There’s a nice view of the area further up on the stairs. I would recommend wearing shoes with good traction as it was a bit muddy even on the short walk we had.

Beautiful scenery. Definitely recommend walking up the hill past the falls as the crowd dwindles from there and you will see some amazing views of the lake. The blue and yellow loops are relatively easy hikes.

Beautiful waterfall, but the road to it is sublime. The fairytale trees are covered with moss. It looks like carpet.
This road is not that long, about 15 minutes from the parking lot.
Do NOT take a carriage from the Munckrose house domain, but leave from the parking lot along the main road. The carriages on the domain are a tourist trap. You pay 100 euros for 4 people for barely 10 minutes there and 10 minutes back. It's not a tour like they sell it.

My husband and I visited the Torc waterfall while we were driving on the Ring of Kerry in Killarney National Park. We parked in the parking lot on the N71 a short distance from the waterfall. We visited late in the afternoon around 4 or 5 pm so we did not have any difficulty parking. The waterfall is only a few minutes walk from the parking lot and well worth the walk. There are several trailheads that start( or end ) at the waterfall. We continued up the hill on the Torc mountain trail for a while before turning back as it was getting late and we had a distance to travel. There are restrooms near the parking area. A sign says the restrooms are automatically locked at 6 pm.

This was an incredible waterfall to view, but it was oh so difficult to find. We used Google Maps to try and locate it, which caused us to park in the "wrong" parking lot." After hiking for at least 45 minutes, we finally found the base of the waterfall, but it necessitated walking back up a VERY steep hill. If you just want a short walk and not an actual hike in the woods (although the hiking is beautiful), be sure you're at the correct parking lot which is actually labeled, "Torc Waterfall."

We walked from Muckross House to the Torc Waterfall. The signposts were clear and the track was easy to follow through woods and by a lake. The actual waterfall wasn’t particularly fast flowing because Ireland hasn’t had much rain recently but everyone who arrived at the designated spot took photos of themselves with the falls in the background.
DONT GO THE THE LOOS HERE! They were disgusting.

This was a very easy trail for all ages. There is a bigger main trail that anyone can walk down with a second trail a little further in the woods for those who would rather do a hike/walk, but the both wind up at the same place. The waterfall is beautiful and I would recommend going to see it. If you can't make the walk, they also have horse carriages that take a loop around the lake that make a stop at the waterfall. Admittedly, the horses seemed a little expensive, so we just did the trail. The trail head to the top of the waterfall could have been more descript, we did the entire loop, but never saw the top of the waterfall but all in all, it was a very beautiful trail.

Torc Waterfall was so beautiful. Only a short 5 min walk from the parking lot. We actually wouldn't have minded a longer walk because the forest was breathtaking! The moss covered boulders, the vine wrapped trees, everything your eyes can see is beautiful. The visit is FREE and only a few min into the Ring of Kerry. Absolutely worth it!!!

Stopped here on our drive around Kerry. Lovely place for a ramble on a dry day, unfortunately the rain was pelting down when we visited. The good thing about the rain is it made the waterfall more spectacular with the amount of water coming off the mountain.
Well worth a visit.

Seeing Torc Falls was absolutely worth the stop! The walk and wooded area to get there was relatively easy to navigate. The National Parks has done a fabulous job of opening up the trails available around the fall. The quiet of the woods made the presence, and noise volume of the falls that much more breathtaking, we even went back a second day,….and after an evening of rain they were dramatically different. Make a point to include them in your travel!

How long should we allow from a parking and hiking there and back standpoint? We might be able to stop in the early afternoon.

If you Park at the waterfalls parking, it’s only a 10 min hike to the fall.

We will be backpacking through Ireland, and we won't have a rental car. If we are in Killarney, is there a way of getting to the falls? Buses? Taxis?

The walk is lovely and pretty flat so that is an option.

Is there a path from the Car park to the waterfall suitable for a buggy or am I better using a baby carrier?
Written March 27, 2018
There is a car park down the bottom of the waterfall but a steep slope up to see the waterfall...
you probably could push a buggy but may find it a bit difficult. I would carry your baby if I am honest.

How long of a walk from the actual waterfall to the top of the mountain along the trail?
Written September 21, 2017
THe walk from the parking lot closest to the falls is only a 5 minute walk. If you decide to go up the steps after viewing the falls takes another 5 mins to the first level. You can't see the waterfall from there. But there is a nice view towards Muckross House. The stone path does continue up from there, but we did not continue. Honestly I could hear my heart beating fast and it wasn't worth it to me to continue on the slippery path. So I don't know how long it takes to go all the way to the top. Hope this helps you. If I went again I would just walk to where you take pictures of the falls. It was lovely.

How far is Waterfall from St Mary's Cathedral?
Written July 18, 2015
It's kinda on the other side of Killarney. Like the cathedral is in town and then Torc Waterfall is out past Muckross House in the park. Not terribly far though.
