The N71 runs from Killarney to Kenmare via Moll's Gap. A very scenic road with forests, moorland, steep climbs and sharp bends, Beware sheep on the road.

Thouroughly enjoyed my drive around the ring of Kerry, but take care as the sheep do pop up on the roads! It's a scary sight watching a sheep saunter along the road totally oblivious to the carnage it could cause.

As soon as we started out on the road, going through the mossy rocks and trees for huge mule deer cross the road then we were greeted by goats and sheep and very corkscrew roads it was absolutely amazing and beautiful and wonderful weather

A lot of the reviews here refer to the road N71 from Killarney to Kenmare, which indeed is spectacular passing Ladies View and Molls Gap. The Old Kenmare Road is closed to cars past the car park, it turns into a single person track at...More

Just an FYI for all those seemingly confused about the Old Kenmare road. It’s not the road you drive via car or take a bus on. As alluded to one of the posts below (ballydavid user) the Old Kenmare Road is a former famine road...More

We took a private tour of the Ring of Kerry with a driver and were able to see all the highlights with the aid of a local who gave us the background and history. We enjoyed this part of the Irish countryside.

This part of the Ring of Kerry Drive. If in Ireland one of it's greatest highlights is the Ring of Kerry drive. This part of the drive takes to Torc waterfall, the Ladies Lookout, Muckross House and Abbey etc. This is not to be missed

This road is definitely open to cars they just prefer no cars go through so it's better to enter from the other side but you can absolutely take a car through there. It is a very neat and scenic drive. Not busy as most... More

I hiked the old kenmare road Sunday last ...no way can you drive this route! The N71 road to kenmare from killarney is the main driving route, the old kenmare road is a totally different route 😀
