Muckross House was historic and educational

What a wonderful tour learning about the history of the house and the owners from queen Victoria to San Francisco. A must see tour of the house and gardens.

Great if you have a young family or just a nice evening walk with the other half, as the walk isn't strenuous. Well cared for and for the most part unspoiled!

Take a tour of the house as it's the gem in the crown of this visit. The tour guide we had was very good and very personable. The tour takes a reasonable time and there are steps involved but there is a lift available. No photography is allowed and the lighting is kept fairly low in the rooms to protect... More

We traveled to Killarney in early September 2016 and devoted our first full day there to the National Park and Muckross House. To give my husband a break from driving, we took the Hop-on-Hop-off bus from the city center. (We later determined we could have easily driven this too but would not have gotten in the nice walks.) If you... More

We toured the house and the traditional farm, then ran out of time to see the rest. We found the tour of the home was too long. Tour guide was very knowledgable and personable. We actually exited before the tour was finished, as we were pressed for time and really wanted to tour the farm.

The house and gardens are a must see if you are in, or near Killarney. Take the guided tour ( one hour) of the mansion, and learn about its culture and famous residents. The grounds are unbelievable, be careful driving, as the roads are very narrow and everyone is looking at the view. Stop the car, get out and enjoy... More

Walked through the gardens and what beautiful picturesque view of water and tree spectacular. Then we visited the Farm very interesting to see how people had to live and endure. The staff of local people in the individual farm building were very engaging and answered any questions you asked. Bread making and tasting farm animals to interact with ladened with... More

No time to visit the house, but really enjoyed a jaunting car ride around the extensive grounds, including a short stop to view the ancient monastic ruins.
