We didn't have enough time to tour the inside of the house but the gardens are just breath taking and a walk around them is relaxing in itself. A brief stop in their craft shop allowed us to see and purchase a few treasures. Look up their website before you go so you can know ahead how much time you... More

Muckross is such an interesting and beautiful place. Reminded me of an Irish Longwood Gardens. The home was amazing, the gardens were even better, and the view over the lake from the house was spellbinding.

The tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly. The food was good quality and value for money. The restaurant was very busy but we got a table for 8 easily. The gardens were ideal for wandering and picnicking in if you wanted to. You could spend all day there easily if you wanted to. We were there for an afternoon.... More

We were disappointed in the house - a heavy, dark, Victorian place. Our guide did his best to make the tour entertaining,,with little quips, but most of the group were foreign, so we were the only ones who got his jokes! He had to lighten the place up somehow.

The grounds for this estate are large and can be explored for several hours. The home/mansion has a tour available for about 9Euro. Good history about the family and the times (late 1800 to early 1900). Anyone familiar with Downton or Upstairs/Downstairs will feel the atmosphere right away. The a several stairs during the tour, but a lift is available... More

The Muckross House Tour is very impressive. Our tour guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. It is hard to believe the planning that went into the construction and the views are tremendous. We enjoyed a light lunch in the Visitors Center. One negative was the odor in the restrooms just outside where you purchase tickets.
