About
We have made the decision to close Muckross House, Craft Centre & Garden Restaurant until March 29th in order to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus. We have a social responsibility to our staff, families & customers to do what is right. Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you when this temporary setback passes. Muckross House, Gardens, and Traditional Farms represent the focal point and nucleus of Killarney National Park. Muckross and Killarney National Park are open daily all year round (expect the Christmas period). Please refer to website for more details on opening times & prices.

Amazing history
Sep 2021 • Couples
The house is maintained in beautiful condition. I wish pictures were allowed but completely understand why they are not. The guidebook was very well put together allowing us to take a step back into the past.

Beautiful Castle and Gardens
Aug 2021
We never got a chance to go inside, but the castle and gardens are gorgeous even from the outside. We even took a horse drawn carriage ride. Stunning views! If you go, please don't miss the Torc Waterfall hike nearby. It was lovely!

Traditional farms best for families
Sep 2021
The house was worth seeing on the inside and I'm glad I went. But I would not recommend the traditional farms for adults with no children. It's a lot of walking and everything is a recreation. Cute to see the farm animals and educational to be sure but I would have preferred spending my time seeing the waterfall or enjoying the park more. Little kids will be thrilled however. Once you are in the farms it's a big long loop with no quick exit if you decide you've had enough.

Beware of small farm visits !
Sep 2021
4 of us elderly 70+ visitors enjoyed our walk around Muckross House on Sunday 12 Sept - BUT we had bought a joint ticket for the house and farms- to see craftsmen at work etc. When we arrived at the reception area for the farms, we were simply pointed to the small entrance after our tickets had been checked.
Imagine how we felt, when after about a mile uphill trek up a road with still no sign of the farms, 2 of us had to turn back simply exhausted. At NO TIME did either the ticket seller, nor the person at reception mention how far the farms were, and bearing in mind our ages this was inexcusable !!
The 2 of our group who struggled to eventually reach the first of the farms, found the others were still further on ! They then found out there was a cart buggy available to take them down back to the entrance !
The Managers of this Tourist attraction should ensure there is a continuous buggy cart service from reception up to the farms, & IF NOT- WARN people- especially the elderly or those with young children of the distance & difficult walk to get there !
From a bitterly disappointed tourist at the lack of genuine concern by staff at this attraction !

Well worth a visit
Sep 2021 • Couples
You can walk around the gardens and lake free of charge. Lots of interesting paths around the estate near the lake (or you could take a horse and trap - about €50 fir two people!). We walked from Torc waterfall car park which was a nice stroll - about 1.5 miles.

Beautiful and interesting Victorian country house
Aug 2021
Beautiful Victorian house to visit at your own pace with explanations in your own language. Very friendly staff. Had to wait a bit to get in as they let in couple by couple due to Covid-19 to pay and start their tour, but that's exceptional and understandable.

Beautiful settings and wonderful views
Aug 2021
We only explored the gardens and tearooms as the house tours had a long wait. The gardens are beautiful and the views over the lakes and mountains are wonderful.

Worth a visit
Jul 2021 • Friends
Very interesting visit. The young man at the ticket office noticed I was limping, I have bad knees
and he suggested he got me the golf buggy to help me around, so good of him. We had a great young man Con, who took us around and was friendly and informative.

A lovely afternoon.

Beautiful home and gardens
Aug 2021
Beautiful house and gardens. There is a lot to see and do at this property. You can walk around the gardens, tour the inside of the house, and visit the traditional farms. You can easily spend half of the day here. A nice stop on your trip to Killarney.
