beautiful historic house and gardens set in the national park. Its at the centre of many routes and trails into the park - try the torc waterfall trail. The jaunting cars(horse drawn carriages) have a stop in the park beside mucross house if you'd prefer to have a more sedate viewing experience. Its one of those places you'll return to... More

We didn't go into the house and the farm was closed until March. The grounds are breathtaking. Our 2 (4 1/2 & 10) loved the views, the waterfalls and there's lots of trees to explore! The jaunts look like great fun, but our youngest was quite tired after walking nearly 2 kms so it was time for a break! The... More

I recommend visiting the park any say throughout the year. It is for free and a nice activity for a quiet weekend get away. We visited the park in february. Despite the winter season and a cloudy day the park was just beautiful to look at. Even this early in the year there were some spring flowers that brought colour... More

Underwhelmed with this. Perhaps due to no good historical context. Would not have bothered. Not worth the time

Just outside of Killarney, a horse cart ride from the hotel and in a beautiful park along the bay. This old mansion is beautiful and the surrounding gardens are breathtaking when in full bloom.

I did the tour of the house over the weekend and it was well worth every cent. Our tour guide was a lovely woman whose love and passion for the house was blatant through her knowledge of it's history and contents. We were in quite a small group which allowed for time and space to look around. I would happily... More

It will probably take a full day to ' soak up ' the atmosphere, culture and ancient traditions which surrounded farming in Rural Ireland a Century ago. Luckily we had seen the 2 excellent films ' Bygone days in Ireland ' before we visited. We should be forever grateful to John McShane and his family for donating this very valuable... More

We didn't know anything about the Muckross House but were told by the locals it was worth a visit. Cost us 9 Euros by cab to get there. Turned out to be well worth the visit. The interior was like so many other 'houses' we have visited, but the history of the place was fascinating. Had no idea it was... More

I've taken the house tour about nine times and each time I like it even more. Very informative tour guide and the house is kept in such great condition that the relatively small entry cost is excellent value. Definitely worth doing when in Killarney. The surrounding gardens and walks are just beautiful. If you are here on a sunny summer... More
