As many have mentioned, it's a smaller pub. However, it gave us a good reason to squeeze in with some local guys who were super fun to chat with! We enjoyed ourselves so much more than if we'd sat at our own table or stood along the wall. People are friendly: jump in! Haha. The service wasn't amazing, but the... More

Everyone we talked to suggested Taaffes. There were hardly any tourist in there. Just a bunch of friendly locals all drinking Guinness.

Taaffes was one of several pubs we discovered on our first trip to Ireland that make us want to return. Upon simply walking into the place, we felt as though we belonged there, it was just so warm and friendly.

Visited here with a Kiwi guy & two Louisiana gals on Sunday evening & whoever said Sundays a day of rest is lying. We had great craic watching a hurling match, knocking back the Guinness, recommending baby Guinness to the girls which they loved and listening to fine traditional Irish music from the two old boyos fiddling away. Place was... More

We were advised to try Taaffes pub if it was authentic live Irish music is what wow we're looking for. We were not disappointed. The music was great and really buzzing (and we were there on a Monday night) heaven knows what the weekends must be like!! The pub is quirky and typically Irish. Despite how busy the pub gets,... On a overcast and rainy afternoon spending time in this great pub was wonderful. We sat next to the musicians. They started at about 1730 and continued for about 2 hours. We sat and drank and listened to the trad music and to the pulse of the pub. Clearly very early ( we also enjoyed later night music in Galway)... More

My wife and I spent a wonderful evening at Taaffes Pub. The atmosphere is incredible and the music was fantastic. The beer is very reasonably priced by European standards and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

This pub is great for the traditional music lover. Most musci doesn't start until 10:30 p.m. or 11 p.m. If you have a short stay in Galway, it is great to know that you can hear traditional music at 5:30 in the afternoon. The pub is packed but friendly when the music is playing. We were offered a seat at... More
