St Nicholas Collegiate Church was the perfect location for this intimate and informative night of traditional Irish music, dance and song. There was a range of instruments - harp, concertina, fiddle and flute all played beautifully which kept us entranced. We learnt how to tell the difference between a reel and a jig in a most amusing way. Watching the... More

Wow... I was left absolutely speechless after this amazing concert. The venue provides some of the best acoustics I've ever heard, and the history of St. Nicholas church is unbelievable. If you're looking for traditional Irish music in a quiet and calm setting, look no further! The musicians are extremely friendly and willing to answer any and all questions, don't... More

Great concert in the church with traditional Irish music and instrument + dance. The MC is very entertaining and made the event extra special with his particularly Irish humor. The church is also a must see in Galway and during intermission they did a very nice job of doing a mini tour with a local's perspective.

Tunes in the church, run by Chris and Emma, is a great venue to listen to traditional Irish music and watch traditional Irish dance. First of all it's just €15 per person to listen and watch. They get the audience to ask questions of the performers too. The performers are from all over Ireland and play harp, tin whistles, concertinas,... More

You will be told that Trad on the Prom is the preeminent musical event, not just of Galway but of all of Ireland. After all, it has earned a number one spot on Trip Advisor for several years straight. We went to that too and enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but this event at Tunes in the Church was... More

Fun and laughter in this beautiful and intimate venue. I was entranced with the jigs and haunting Irish melodies, the beautiful dancer and the music that got everybody's feet tapping and the interesting history behind the music and dance. In the interval we were shown around the beautiful church and then back to listen to the harp and traditional songs... More

We saw 4 great young musicians who are skilled in their traditional Irish music and dance art forms and wanting to share the history. The concert was a casual setting with questions encouraged throughout. Intermission included a delightful tour of the church with some interesting points about its history. A great deal for 15€ - you won't be disappointed!

I am not going to say that the performers you see in the pubs are not talented, but the quality of the artists you will see and hear at the Tunes in the Church are in a totally different league. Well worth the effort and cost.

We attended a Tunes in the Church performance at St. Nicholas' Church in Galway in June 2016. The concert included two sets, with several fine musicians playing harp, accordian and fiddle, and also a sean nos dancer. At intermission there was a brief tour of the church. The musicians talked about their music and invited questions from the audience, so... More
