Looks old, but is fairly modern in reality. Shame there is an obligatory entrance fee, appealing to people who like church architecture

We walked up to the cathedral after having visited Christ Church at St. Patrick's in Dublin expecting something similar. The cathedral is undeniably beautiful, but we were surprised to learn that it was only just over 50 years old. While nothing is taken away from the craftsmanship, it lacks the historical heft of its counterparts.

Visited Galway for two days. We visited the cathedral on the 16th July which was a Saturday - hence it was very busy with tourists. Cathedral has its own carpark which is cheaper than the main carpark close by. Fabulous building and worth a visit.

A young cathedral very well decorated and really pretty. It's free of charge but you can give a little donation like 2€

It's an impressive building from the outside, but special inside. The newest and largest of Europe's great cathedrals, it's as majestic as any I've been in. The stained glass is really interesting (check out the "Irish Holy Family"), and the various alcoves provide a great blend of artistry, history, and religious significance.

All on our tour appreciated the beauty of the cathedral. To see the whole place we could have used more time...there's that much to take in.

This building looks amazing from outside and the architecture is wonderful. It is always swarming with people and although inside pretty special, it wouldn't compare to some I have visited.

I didn't realize that this cathedral was built in the 1960's based on the outside stonework, but as I entered it was clear that it was very new and modern as far as cathedrals go. It was so beautiful and peaceful as I walked around! Because they are celebrating the 50th anniversary I was able to read all of the... More
