We popped into the museum not knowing what to expect . We were greeted by Brian our guide who had us laughing singing and even got me to play the drums . This tour is so much fun and you get to see many interesting things . Brian was funny and kind and was even helped an elderly lady up and down the stairs a true Irish gentleman. 5 stars is not enough Brian . Ps A little helpful tip from a fellow tour guide drop the lanyards till this flu is gone people feel uncomfortable wearing them they may not say but they do we had to in our museum just a thought .

Something different to do in Dublin. The Museum majors in some of the most obvious Irish musical exports such as U2 and Thin Lizzy, but all the others, including my favourite Rory Gallagher, get a mention. John, our excellent guide, was full of interesting stories about the history not just of Irish music, but also the recording studio and rock venue which form part of the experience. A very enjoyable part of our trip to Dublin. Thanks John.

We went purely because it was part of our Dublin pass, but what an experience! It was fantastic! We were led around by a Dutch lady who, had she not admitted, I would never have realised wasn't Irish. She was incredibly passionate and drew us into her love of Irish bands enabling us to learn so much. This is a mega - go see.

Alan was so much fun. He took the time to get to know everyone, which made the tour very interactive and personalised based on our varied knowledge of the musicians. There was a French couple on our tour who he did a great job of taking the extra time of explaining things to, very simply but effectively, and gave his French a real go for them. You can feel his passion for what he does at the museum, and you can’t help but match his enthusiasm. Loved the place, the history, the time spent and absolutely loved the tour and Alan.

Brian was a nice and funny guide to this museum - what I appreciate is that though he has probably given this tour a million times he did not seem at all bored but on the contrary, really keen and engaged. So that’s a big plus. But otherwise, expected a little bit more out of this museum for the price which is not cheap. So maybe more interactive elements & things to do - and maybe more music to be heard? The video was nice though, and it was great to have a chance to play some of the instruments.

Hi TeamFinfamily
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're glad you enjoyed your tour with Bryan but disappointed to hear you felt it wasn't interactive enough. As you mention we do feature a jam room where visitors can rock out with genuine instruments and dress up like an eccentric fun loving rock star. We've seen some amazing talents pass through this room on our tours from all over the world. In regard to the price, to the best of our knowledge you visited on a family ticket which is a saving of over €10 if you were to add the individual prices for 2 adults and 2 children. We also offer online discounts for advance bookings and discount cards can be found in many hotels and tourist offices across the city.
Kind Regards

I ran into this unmissable place while visiting the Temple Bar area and I highly recommend you stop by as well (but better to book your ticket in advance).
The tour exhibits instruments, albums and more personal items from iconic musicians. You will also visit rehearsal rooms, a recording studio and a proper stage that smell like rock and beer.
Our tour guide Alan was absolutely knowledgeable and passionate and listening to him was a real pleasure! You’ll never wear a pyjama like you used to after visiting the museum…
The tour is about 1.5 h long.

We decided to do the tour last minute , my husband is a massive U2 fan. Although our ten year old was not keen to go she absolutely loved it !
Our tour guide was great , so enthusiastic and knowledgable. Lots of facts and funny takes. It was really cool to see the studios where people rehearse and perform intimate gigs.
I was really happy to see some discs up from Divine Comedy , Frank and Walters and Sultans of Ping.
As well as U2 and Thin Lizzy memorabilia , there were some fab mementos - Phil Lynott’s guitars and a mixing desk that has been used by a full range of stars.
Good value and recommended for any fan of Irish music !

A bit like having a guided tour of Hard Rock Cafe memorabilia (but without the food) all related to the rich musical heritage of Dublin. A big plus was getting seniors discount at 60 - a real treat as it was part of my birthday celebrations. Knowledgable and likeable guide who lead with just the right ammount of enthusiasm. Inevitably, the tour ends up in the gift shop!! If you like your folk music Claddagh records is just next door!

This place is a must if you like a bit of rock n roll, John the guide was a fountain of knowledge, just a great look behind the scenes from U2 to Thin Lizzy memorabilia. Even get to play some instruments, if only we could play them...all for the craic .

Bonjour,
Je suis à Dublin avec un groupe de 6 personnes, dont 5 parlent uniquement le français. Est-ce qu'il y a possibilité d'avoir une visite en français en fin d'après-midi le 18.9 ou en journée le 20.9.
Meilleures salutations.

I'm very interested in taking this tour, but do NOT want to pretend to be on stage playing drums or guitar. Do you have to participate in that? Definitely a deal breaker for me.

Hi there,
Please rest assured that you absolutely do not have to do that. As part of the tour, we do give the opportunity to try the instruments in our 'Jam Room', but this is in no way compulsory. We frequently get musicians on the tour and this moment sometimes provides an unplanned bit of live music, but it is only for fun and is never forced. The tour is primarily a journey through Temple Lane Studios, complete with stories memorabilia and hopefully a good few laughs along the way. It's a very relaxed tour, we hope you join us soon.

Hi, my 13 year old daughter loves music and writing her own songs, does it matter she wouldn’t of heard of Thin Lizzy etc as I think she would love to see a recording studio.

Can you tell me the name of the band in the video that play immediately before An Emotional Fish, the video had writing on the walls behind the singer. I asked Anastasia at the time and forgot to, go back to her at the end of the tour.
