My family and I booked this tour knowing only bits and pieces about the Book of Kells and Dublin Castle. Our guide, Richard, was fabulous. He was clearly versed on Ireland’s epic history, the Book of Kells, and Dublin Castle. He knew Dublin like the back of his hand. He did a terrific job weaving personal stories and anecdotes within an animated and interesting history lesson.

The Book of Kells was interesting, but the newly opened Book of Kells Experience made it even better. The 3-D style experience explained the history of the Book and how it came to be one of the most important pieces of religious literature in the world.

The Long Room in the library is amazing. There is this VERY odd and out of place modern globe in the middle of the room that sadly detracts from the beauty of the Long Room. Most of the books are away being restored, but there are plenty that are finished and now back on some of the shelves.

The trip from Trinity College to Dublin Castle was interesting with a few short stops built in discussing some of the history and architecture in Dublin.

If you have any mobility issues make sure you tell your guide before the tour begins. He moved fast and my daughter who was in a walking boot sometimes struggled to keep up. Not the guide’s fault at all. We should have asked him to accommodate her.

This is a great tour for families with children ages 9+. Any younger and they may be bored. My son is 11 and found it entertaining.

Dublin Castle is really beautiful. It is under renovation so we only were able to see an obstructed portion. Would love to return and take a guided tour of the interior.

Overall I would highly recommend this tour and Richard as your guide. He was experienced, kind, knowledgeable, and very professional. We really enjoyed our time.

Our guide Malene gave us an informative and delightful tour. She has a great sense of timing and kept us moving while conveying her insiders’ tips for the ins and outs of the city, including advice for where to go on a rainy day! Really charming and fun

A memorable experience. Antonio was fun, friendly and informative and managed to keep our group together—Guinness was crowded. The Jameson tour worked well with our smaller group of 25, I felt we were packed in like sardines in the Guinness taste testing room as our group was combined with about 50+ others. Antonio gave us the history of Guinness outside the entrance which was wise as the inside of the building was quite noisy. But he did a great job of touring several floors. I recommend taking this tour.

Hello and thank you for your 5 star review of our award-winning tour and for Antonio, your expert local guide. With so many guests choosing Dublin for their holidays/vacation a lot of venues are extra busy but that is why our Skip the Line tickets are a huge plus. Best Regards, Best Regards,

For the $ it was disappointing! Roger, the guide, was knowledgeable but didn’t speak loud enough to be heard (no ear buds were offered, yet he was miked) & talked too much extraneously. Skipping the line at BkofKells is great, but the designated meeting spot wasn’t clear, especially since we doubled back to the library entrance (easy to find). Tour guides need to hold up a “flag” or some highly visible sign! Others we’re disappointed too but may not speak up. Walk to Castle is longer than you think, it got late, drizzly, and he rambled on! Next time we’ll book the Trinity tour, less fussing about details!

Hello Michael, it appears that you were on a different tour than the one delivered as we have received consistent 5-star reviews from tour guests on the exact same tour. Unfortunately, we have no control over the weather. The walk to the Castle is less than 15 minutes away with stops along the way making it a very pleasant way to enjoy some of the hidden highlights of our city. Best Regards,

The crowd was thick at the Book of Kells portion of the tour. Our guide had to whisper inside (thus I could not hear him) and the students were loud outside (thus I could not hear him).
When I could hear him, he was very well informed and charming. We ended on a high note of the tour in Dublin Castle - it was quiet and secluded. His stories were engaging and even funny at times! All in all an informative day.

Highly recommend this way to visit the Book of Kells and Dublin Castle. Sure you can just read in a guide book pertinent information, but you miss the flavor of a local's perspective and their personality. Our guide Brian even gave a nice rendition of a Molly Malone folk song as we passed by that statue. He also gave great recommendations on other points of interest not specific to the tour from dining to venues for listening to music away from the tourist crowds.

Such a great tour. Neil was our guide and he was tremendous. It enhances the tour experience when your guide is passionate about what he is saying/ doing and that was Neil. The book of Kells was so cool and the library was breathtaking. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering.

We did the Florence Italy Bites, Sights and Delights Tour with Antonio and it was awesome! He was friendly and easy to converse with, he was very knowledgable and gave us a nice tour of the city as well as taking us to hidden gems for local cuisine. We did not feel rushed at all, all the food and wine was great, and he took us to the best gelato in the city! Antonio even offered resources and recommendations for the next part of our trip once we left Florence. He knows everything about Italy!

Antonio was super knowledgeable and helpful. He had provided us with a great time and lots of history and local tips regarding Dublin. Would definitely recommend him to others. The whiskey tour in the afternoon followed by the beer tour going into the evening was in the perfect order. We enjoyed his recommendations and the extra time between tours to have a snack.

Our tour guide, Richard, was welcoming and witty. He loves the history of Dublin and shared much of that with us along our walk from Jameson to Guinness. Fortunately, my husband and I had a pint at The Brazen Head before the tour started. While some people mentioned stopping in there during the tour itself, we only walked past it while Richard shared some of its history and was happy to take our photos in front of the pub.

Thank you for the wonderful review! It sounds like Richard charmed you with his wit and love for Dublin’s history—two pints of knowledge for the price of one! 😄 We’re glad you and your husband got a head start with a pint at The Brazen Head; after all, what better way to kick off a tour than by raising a glass at Ireland's oldest pub? We're glad Richard made sure you got that perfect photo-op in front of it. Thanks again for joining us—cheers to more adventures (and more pints)!
