Cliffs of Moher Tour Including Wild Atlantic Way and Galway City from Dublin

3,519 reviews
The Cliffs of Moher are located in Burren on the Wild Atlantic Way, a winding coastal road notoriously difficult to navigate. Spend less time reading maps and more time soaking up the scenery on a stress-free tour from Dublin. An experienced driver navigates the roads safely and a guide transports you to premium viewing spots you may have missed if exploring independently. Plus, this tour includes free time to explore Galway, too.

Fabulous statue to the Thin Lizzy frontman who has clearly won the hearts of all visitors with flowers, notes and even cigarettes adoring him. Great location too.

His name is Paul Daly. Frontman to Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott, is immortalised in a series of statues in his memory. The original statue was commissioned by the Roisín Dubh Trust, which was set up to commemorate the life and work of Lynott. The Roisín Dubh Trust had approached Dublin City Council in January 2000 in a bid to get a statue erected as a tribute to the rock star. Plans were approved by the council in February 2001. Sculptor Paul Daly was commissioned to work on the statue after a competition to find an artist who could capture Lynott's charisma. Since then sculptor Paul Daly has released a limited edition statue in cold cast bronze. The statues are wonderfully fabricated and really capture the character that was Phil. This miniature is on display and for sale at The Green Gallery on the top floor of The St. Stephens Green Shopping Centre. Its just a minutes stroll from the big statue.

A black figure of Phil Lynott that really to me as a person born on the island of Ireland is still totally irrelevant. Why it is there I don’t know and I only saw it as I passed by on my way to the wonderful Westbury Hotel. Don’t go out of your way to see this.

You gotta love Ireland's love affair with statues of celebrities - local and otherwise. Phil Lynott wasn't necessarily all that famous. Even some fans of Thin Lizzy might not know the name of their foounder, lead singer and songwriter. His songs are more famous than he is. Having said all this, I admire his work. At least he got a statue while not all Dubliners like U2 enough to memorialize them.

Thin Lizzy was always a favorite rock group of mine. The statue of Phil Lynott is very moving tribute.
