The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year" in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 25 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 7.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

The Merry Ploughboys were one of the highlights of our trip to Dublin ! The food was amazing and very fresh. But the highlight was the Merry Ploughboys themselves. An authentic, high energy performance that kept our feet tapping and our hands clapping. ( not to mention laughing our heads off). These are seasoned performed that love and enjoy what... More

When our hotel gave this Pub a recommendation we were sceptable, but WOW were we ever glad that we went. We were wanting to hear traditional Irisih music as all we were hearing even in the local pubs was the pop music of the day. The music was wonderful and gave us that Irisih flavor we were seeking. We also... More

Went here a couple of years ago now and it was great fun. I think having the musicians own the place gives it a distinct edge. Good food too and it's on my list of places to revisit.

I Merry Ployghboys were more than one could hope for in a singing group! Audience participation was also included. Please remember to buy their CDs there as they are more expensive online!

We had a great night in the Merry Ploughboy last weekend with our cousins home from Australia. The pub was really busy but our table was ready for us when we arrived for the show. Dinner was good and we all enjoyed it.I had the goats cheese and the sea trout. My husband really enjoyed his lamb shank (as well... More

We visited The Merry Ploughboy on Friday 27th July 2012. We had booked both the meal (inc. show) and the transfer coach trip on the internet. Things started well - the coach arrived at the right time at a pick up point fairly near our hotel. The journey was pleasant ( an opportunity to see a little of the area... More

Great music, dancing and atmosphere, slightly disappointing food, but then there was a lot of people there. Would recommend it.

The musicians are entertaining and skillful. The dancers were cute but basically just above high schoolers, this is no broadway show. The food is nothing better than awful. I thought it was uneaten leftovers from and Aer Lingus flight. Also, the waiters forgot about us, though they did later apologise. I think there are better ways to experience Irish music... More
