The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year" in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 25 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 7.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

Visited with colleagues for an evening meal. As a lover of live Irish folk I wasn't disappointed, even on a Tuesday night. The food was great, chicken wings to start which were lovely, with Dublin bay scampi for my main. Beautiful. The Guinness was as expected in Dublin wonderful. Great and friendly service. Live folk in the room next door.... More

Yes, the Merry Ploughboy is primarily a tourist attraction, but , wow, do they do a good job from start to finish. Everyone at our table said their meal was excellent, and the servers did a good job of keeping up with drinks and extras. My lamb was fork tender and my wife's chicken was excellent. Locals dine here as... More

Dinner outstanding--beef angus marrinated Guinness felt off the fork and melted in one's mouth. Singers outstanding and dancers gave their all. Good time was had by all. Don't miss this exciting evening.

Roughly 60 Euro included transportation to/from on a nice coach bus, dinner and the show. The dinner was good, not great. The show was very good. Dancers were good, the Irish quartet was very good and kept the crowd involved and entertained. Only negative was that they overbook the venue. My wife's seat was crammed into a corner where if... Definitely a pub for tourist friends that are looking for a bit of crack agus ceol (and music) However, the food here is served all day and its of the highest quality. I would give a big recommendation and personally think its far superior than the hyped up J Fox's highest pub in Ireland, top of the morning, if your... More

What an absolutely brilliant night out. If you want great entertainment and great food then this is the place to go. The Merry Ploughboys are excellant singers and musicians with everyone clapping, foot stomping and singing along to the songs. Not forgetting the Irish dancers wowing us with their river dancing. Thank you for a truly memorable night out.

While this is a large venue, the experience is authentic. The food was surprisingly delicious (the chef is part owner). The musicians (also owners) explain the music and their native instruments and convey the feelings behind each tune. To hear their national anthem sung in Gaelic was touching and patriotic. The dancers are professionals with the RiverDance troupe, appearing between... More

The food was good, the service was quick, full bar and wonderful music and Irish dancers, a wonderful experience all around. It is a must see, loved it the band had the group singing along and swaying to the music - FUN, FUN, FUN

We did a short bus tour of Ireland with CIE Tours. The first night we saw the Merry Ploughboys show and it was great. The musicians were very talented as were the Irish step dancers. Although we had a great trip this was one of the highlights.
