I came to the Irish House Party as a chaperone visiting from the ‘States. We got to enjoy a lovely series of Irish folk songs and participate in some traditional Irish dances while learning about the different types of dances and instruments.

The band were super friendly and professional. The kids absolutely loved it! It was hands down one of greatest highlights of our experience in Ireland. Most of us would gladly come back again.

If you’re looking to have some good ‘crack’ (as the locals say) in Dublin, this is certainly a fine place to do so! 10/10 Cheers!

The Irish House Party Show was an amazing experience, definitely a must see when in Dublin, if you want to have a taste of the real Irish welcome and culture! The atmosphere was very intimate and authentic and all the performers were so talented. The show was really entertaining, we could have watched them playing, dancing, and listening to their stories for hours. Highly recommended!

Amazing show with a fantastic meal. They were very entertaining if you want a traditional irish night out then put this on your list. Book in advance it sells out often. Oh and the den bar down stairs is one of the best pubs in dublin.

Had a lovely 3 course traditional Irish dinner before going downstairs to the music and dancing show. 4 amazing musicians and a fabulous Irish Dancer, the night we went. Really engaged with the audience. Superb evening.

We were looking for a good place to bring our family of five with the traditional Irish Music/Culture/Storytelling,
without having to sit in a Pub/Bar in the later part of an evening. This is the Perfect choice for just that!
The food and service were very good in the Den Bar Restaurant, then we were escorted downstairs to a small venue for the entertainment portion of the evening. Wonderful atmosphere, extremely fun and talented entertainers, made us feel right at home!
Thank you for a Great Evening, on our last night before flying home to NY!!

I have just returned from a holiday to Ireland and just wanted to enter a comment about the Irish House Party show I attended in Dublin. This was such a great night for me. After a really nice dinner the guide brought us next door to a really old traditional pub where the entertainment was. There were three musicians one playing my favorite Irish instrument the pipes! During the evening they explained about the music and their experiences and I learnt so much during the night. We even did some Irish dancing!! The guides were really funny. Definately something I would recommend doing if you go to Dublin.

Our main reason for visiting Ireland - besides to see it's beauty and meet its friendly people - was to experience some authentic Irish music & dancing. Our daughter is a championship level Irish dancer and we wanted an intimate experience that included the audience (seeing our daughter dance was THE potential highlight for us proud parents!). This venue did not disappoint...BUT we had to overcome a major obstacle that would have prevented our experience from being so wonderful. We did the entire dinner/entertainment package (I didn't know until this evening that coming for just the entertainment was an option) and even stayed at the hotel specifically because of this venue. We were seated far from the stage (none of us could see), but I wasn't worried because I saw tables near the stage that were waiting for us after we finished eating. Just after a delicious dinner but before dessert arrived, a huge group of people (clearly a senior tour) were ushered in...right up to the front tables, near the stage! My husband and I were flabbergasted...it didn't make sense that people who paid less and came late would be given the best seats in the house, while we were relegated to the back where our kids couldn't even see! We were politely pushy and asked our server to help us...she came back to tell us the host said something to the effect of "Well, those are your seats and you cannot change now." We are not obnoxious people, but there was no way we were going to pay what we did - especially knowing what our daughter could add to the experience - and listen to our kids complain that they could not see and wanted to go back to the room. With the help of our server, we moved our chairs near the front, not blocking anyone from seeing, and proceeded to have an excellent evening. The quality of talent at this show is awesome...each musician was very professional and the dancer was from the cast of Riverdance. When they asked for audience participation, the dancer came to my daughter to ask if she would dance (she had earlier pegged her as an Irish dancer when she saw her point her toes). Our little American girl surprised the heck out of the locals and had people cheering. MY TIP: Either skip the dinner, so you are ushered into the good seats or upon finishing your dinner, be willing to be a tad pushy and move your chairs up toward the front. In the end, this was the best moment of our trip...

We attended the House Party between Christmas and New Year with our twin sons, 7. I had booked the evening as we had seen some Irish dancing on our holiday in Florida and the boys were really keen to see the "real thing". I had read lots of the positive reviews on Trip Advisor but was still a little trepidatious as not many seemed to be posted by British nationals and I wondered whether there might be taste differences across the nationalities. I need not have been concerned; we all had a great night. We travelled to the hotel via the Luas (tram) and DART (railway) which wasn't as long or difficult as it sounds. We were greeted by very friendly staff and enjoyed a drink in The Den before being called in for our meal. We really enjoyed the food. It was unpretentious but plentiful and tasty. The waiting staff were really nice and made a fuss of the children too. The show itself was excellent. The musicians and the musician/dancer were extraordinarily talented. They performed lots of songs from U2 to traditional folk music and thoroughly entertained the very mixed audience in an extremely inclusive way. Big thanks to all at the Lansdowne for a great night.

For many well-traveled individuals; Dublin can come across as your typical, large, international city. Sure, there is the Guinness factory, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar and the other interesting districts of the city that help make the city special; but for this American, every time I come across a Starbucks, or another set of golden arches; I begin wondering if I'm really that far away from home after all.

If you are coming to Dublin; and want to leave feeling as if you were enveloped in an intimate, entertaining and culturally educational event, look no further than the Irish House Party. The musicians are immensely talented, funny, and make you feel immediately welcome and engaged in the show.

Highly recommended.

This was our last night in Ireland. We arrived sharp on time 6.25 for 6.30 pm. Our order for dinner was refused 'under orders that 'the others had to arrive''. The others turned out to be in our small area, a table of children and 16 to 20 americans who arrived at 7.10pm 40 minutes late. The waitress replaced my undrinkable red wine, and proceeded to take the american orders. I prevailed and she took ours under pressure. The table of americans shouted from one end of the table to the other, they shouted with theatrical laughter full wide open mouths, children clapped. We moved in desperation and ate at the bar. The show was due to start at 8.30.but delayed to 9pm. We were ushered in separately from the americans who turned out to be 100 or much more. We were directed to sit at the side, reserving the centre and better seats for the americans. A number of us went into the centre row, including a quiet normal american woman. Then the leader of the loud americans took over the stage and addressed us and the mass loud ones shouted and yahooed. The show started, the americans clapped along and called out with one group mind, deafening out the music. THen the mass americans SANG negro BLACK SLAVE GOSPEL songs lead from the stage by their freaky leader. The irish singer did a hard cold Danny Boy as per american market and the show finished at 10.10 so we missed out nearly half of it. Could not hear the irish properly, and another choir who was present was not happy either. The americans had no sense of public space, colonised it all, shouted at each other regardless of others. in extreme rude behaviour. The hotel should not have booked us in with what was really a private ugliness. This was the only bad thing we saw or experienced in weeks in Ireland. Hard to describe how awful the night was.

Hi Spirited23. Apologies that you didn't enjoy the evening. This was obviously a once off occurrence. The group that you speak of all made bookings through our website so we had no idea they are all from the one choir. In hindsight it would have been better if they made a private booking for themselves. Our venue is very intimate and I can see how you would have been swallowed up by this group on the night. If you contact us directly by email I can offer you a full refund for the night . As I said it was a completely once off occurrence as even our waiters and musicians were taken by surprise that night! Hopefully you might get to visit us again on a more regular night!
