I went to O’Donoghues to hear some music but ended up experiencing racist and rude treatment from other patrons there. After seeing another review about someone’s racist experience with the owner, I’m wondering if this is acceptable behavior there.. It was a packed night but I found a place to stand to see and hear the musicians. I was standing listening to music for about 20 minutes. There was a group of young men towering around me and often pushing into me but I just ignored that since the place was crowded.
I’m a petite woman ( 5’2” and less than 115 pounds), blocked no one’s view (most people were drinking and talking over the music). As I zipped up my coat to leave, one man from the group behind me loudly said “ YEAH, GET OUT OF HERE WOG” The others just laughed. I left quickly without saying anything.
It was my last night in Dublin and I’ve found most people to be polite, friendly and kind but I would advise people to avoid this venue and encourage musicians to perform elsewhere.

I was in this bar with friends tonight. The bar staff were great but at the end of the night I was introduced to Des the owner. He seemed lovely at first but quite quickly turned out to be the most racist person I have ever met. He referred to his own staff as “***gers” and maintained his disdain for anyone who was not white, made disgusting references about women, LGBTQ people, and more. Don’t ever go here. He is the most disgusting person I have ever met.

O'Donoghues is always a good to go into. I've been off the alcohol but there is a good selection of hot drinks and soft drinks at the bar. The bar is a cozy one and always generates a good atmosphere

Had a delicious and filling breakfast, though we ordered the mini traditional! Hot and fresh! We got scrambled eggs, toast, two kinds of sausage (patty and link), bacon (or what we call ham in the USA), tomato wedge, and a potato patty!
At just under 10 euros, it was a better value than our hotel breakfast, and in such a cool setting! Quiet and not crowded at 10:30am on a Tuesday. Think we beat the lunch crowd. (Wink!)

Stopped in to grab lunch and some stew. They came out with a heaping bowl of stew that was fantastic. Nice and hot with a lot of veggies and meat. It was exactly what I was looking for so I'm glad I stopped in. There was a group of older Irish people in the back playing songs and singing. Was a true Irish Pub feel and I will be back.

Stumbled across this great pub on our first night in Dublin. We only intended to stay for a drink but found a cosy corner by the bar for Guinness and some amazing food and discovered it was way too nice to leave.
The staff were wonderful - super welcoming and happy to give food recommendations. My mussels were amazing.
Bonus was the great live band that came on later doing easy listening covers.
A fab atmosphere and not touristy - definitely full of locals. Recommended if you’re up that way.

I'v been coming to this bar for years now and it never let's me down. I'm always greeted with a warm welcome even though my visits are sporadic. The staff are amazing, pleasant and hard working. the live music mid week creates a smashing atmosphere. And it's location makes it hard to pass for both a quick drink / meet up zone before or after dinner or a gig. There's also a private function room upstairs which I used for a fundraiser last
night. Room holds about 40 people. A huge thanks to muhammad and Leigh on bar staff and shaqueell who provided the food. 10 out of ten for this cosy and warm hearted venue in the heart of the city.

Visited this bar recently and was so impressed with the level of service & food.
From the second we walked through the door we were welcomed with a friendly face & all the staff were the same throughout, a really high level of customer service. Also to top it off the food was absolutely gorgeous the best chicken wings in Dublin & homemade chicken goujons were gorgeous too. Yum yum! Would definitely recommend this pub for its service & food. Can’t wait to go back.

Visited O’Donoghues on Saturday evening with a group of friends and left disappointed. Wasn’t allowed to tap for any transactions under €10 which is surely outdated at this stage. Pint was fine and music was good but the smell and state of the male toilets was awful. You could get smell of urine even before you walked into the toilet. Badly needs some TLC.
