About
The Icon Factory is a non-profit charity that is staffed by contemporary artists and passionate volunteers. It is affiliated with the Icon Walk, a free open-air cultural installation which celebrates Irish culture and heritage. The images of the icons are produced by members of the Icon Factory, and are also available in various forms, such as fine art prints, posters and cards, in our shop in exchange for donation. The Icon Factory is committed to training and supporting local contemporary artists, reducing criminality and improving the amenity of the Temple Bar area, and promoting Irish cultural heritage at home and abroad. The Icon Factory is established as a not-profit enterprise and is funded entirely by donations from local businesses, individuals and artists, which contribute to maintaining and expanding the Icon Walk.

We visited The Icon Walk with our tour guide Patrick during his 4-hour called “Dublins best kept secrets”. It is a community of artists who have transformed back roads into a living art project. Lots of dedicated artists make the Icon Factory to a fun place to visit, buy pieces of art or some unique souvenirs to support this project. Take some time to have a chat with e.g. Anthony about art, Dublin and the world. You will not regret it.
The Icon Factory is under threat because the landlord wants to use the space for a restaurant and the artists have not yet found a new space. I really do not understand why the city does not support and promote such a great place!

Over the years I’ve become a frequent visitor and friend to the Icon Walk and Factory. It’s one of those hidden gems and such a fun way to learn more about the heroes of Irish Culture. I was dismayed to hear that this project is under threat as their new landlord seeks vacant possession. It would be such a shame to see this little Gem disappear.

Fantastic idea, made the walk so interesting on the way to our next stop. Lovely artistic work and well worth a visit, very close to river too, so easy to pop by.

The Icon Walk and Factory is a true hidden gem of Dublin created by volunteers to help promote real Irish culture.
The walk features some great stories and tales about different icons in Ireland and is really educational. The whole walk is free and outdoors right in the city center.
The staff in the Icon Factory are really nice and helpful and very affordable original Irish art is forsale here.
I take dozens of tourists here each week and the feedback is very positive.

This is small local must-see art shop. It's mostly pop art featuring Irish icons. The staff is terrific. The prices are reasonable and the art quite unique. The art even flow out from this store into the surrounding streets with large murals of all kinds of Irish iconic figures. You can learn an enormous amount about Irish culture just walking through the street and looking at and reading about the individuals featured in the murals.

After viewing the Icon Walk in Temple Bar, we chatted with Aga who has her own art studio at Icon Factory. She is so sweet and her art is wonderful. She'll even sign her work for you. Wonderful experience and great for getting souvenirs that aren't generic.

An enthusiastic welcome from Aga, who has her studio on site, who showed us her works in progress before showing us to the small retail space. The shop is not for profit and is run for the benefit of the artists which means it is the perfect place to find a unique souvenir of your visit.

I didn't actually go into the shop, but am writing here today about the art that is on the buildings in the immediate are by the Icon Factory which I think the volunteers of said establishment are responsible.
Myself and my daughter spente half an hour admiring the various murals which were basically about past and modern Irish Icons, I saw Gay Byrne, Shane McGowan, Brendan Behan, Oscar Wilde amongst many others, really worth a look, really brightens up a dull city street with something far more interesting than the usual 'tag' graffiti you see on other back streets. Really loved it, informative too.
Icon Factory, I sincerely hope the Corpo will give you another drab Dublin Street to bring your bright and positive rays of sunshine into one day!! Keep up the good work!

Icon Street is a street off the main street in the Temple Bar area. The wall next to the street contains a number of photographs of notable people in Irish history. The second part, which is a side alley called Icon Alley contains a large mosaic on the wall and a string of pretty plastic pieces strung along the alley which looks very pretty in the sunlight. (You barely see it at night.) The street and alley are worth walking through if you are in the Temple Bar area, which you should be at some point in your visit to Dublin.
